Roland Announces Robben Ford Blues Cube Tone Capsule
Custom voicing circuit for the Blues Cube amplifier series
Summer NAMM Show (Booth 923), Nashville, TN, June 20, 2016 — The new Robben Ford Tone
Capsule brings the signature tone of the noted blues and jazz fusion guitarist to the Roland Blues
Cube amplifier series. This user-installable Tone Capsule changes the sound and response
characteristics of the original Blues Cube amps, authentically reproducing the bold, creamy blues lead
tone and strong presence of Robben Ford’s famous sound.
Widely regarded as one of the top guitarists of all time, Robben Ford is well known for both his
longtime solo career and collaborations with some of the biggest names in blues, jazz, and rock.
Throughout most of his career, he has used a prized, custom-made tube amplifier to achieve his
distinctive and appealing guitar tones. Robben worked directly with Roland engineers on this new
Tone Capsule, fine-tuning the responsive, bluesy crunch and bold, cutting clean sound to his personal
specifications. When the project was completed, the guitarist stated that he was ―fully satisfied‖ with
the results.
The popular Blues Cube amplifier series features Roland’s innovative Tube Logic approach, which
fully captures the highly musical sound and inspiring feel of classic tube guitar amps. In developing
the Blues Cube, Roland engineers integrated the ability to instantly change the amplifier’s voicing via
a Tone Capsule socket on the chassis.
The Robben Ford Blues Cube Tone Capsule is compatible with the Blues Cube Artist, Artist212,
Stage, and Tour amplifiers.

Roland Exhibits KT-9 Kick Trigger Pedal and FD-9 Hi-Hat Controller
Innovative percussion pedals designed for ultra-quiet practice and performance
Summer NAMM Show, Nashville, TN, June 20, 2016 — Roland (Booth 923) is highlighting the KT-9
Kick Trigger Pedal and FD-9 Hi-Hat Controller, two additions to the renowned V-Drums lineup of
electronic percussion products. Featuring innovative new designs and patent-pending link
mechanisms, the KT-9 and FD-9 deliver ultra-quiet performance without sacrificing feel or playability.
This makes them ideal for V-Drums users who play in small homes, apartments, practice studios, and
other environments during evening hours or anytime noise is an important concern.
When playing V-Drums with headphones, the majority of sound produced is heard only by the user.
However, playing the kit still creates some mild operational noise. Though whisper-quiet in
comparison with acoustic drums, this noise can sometimes be bothersome to others, particularly
when it’s late at night. The kick and hi-hat pedals are the biggest noise producers, since they’re
placed on the floor and used almost continuously in most playing styles. The KT-9 and FD-9 offer
drummers a solution to this issue, enabling them to play, practice, and record in situations where
maximum noise reduction is essential.
The KT-9 Kick Trigger Pedal features a beaterless design that combines the foot pedal and striker into
a single compact unit that’s extremely quiet when played. A newly developed link mechanism
provides the true feel and response of a traditional design, plus a dramatic reduction in operational
noise. When compared to the Roland KD-9 beater-equipped kick pedal, the KT-9 produces 85% less
audible sound in the room and 63% less to rooms below.
The FD-9 Hi-Hat Controller features an all-in-one design like the KT-9, and incorporates a similar link
mechanism for a marked reduction in operational noise. Compared with the Roland FD-8 Hi-Hat
Controller, the FD-9 produces 50% less audible sound in the room and 15% less to rooms below. The
pedal’s feet ensure total stability, letting the user work the FD-9 as hard or soft as they like to pick up
every nuance, with support for aggressive moves like hi-hat splashes.
Both the KT-9 and FD-9 feature integrated feet and adjustable anchors for rock-solid stability, plus
adjustable spring tension for optimizing the playing feel. Each pedal also has a toe-stopper, a familiar
touch carried over from acoustic pedals.
The KT-9 and FD-9 are even more effective when used alongside other Roland percussion products
designed for low-noise operation. These include the patented mesh heads featured in many V-Drums
sets, as well as the NE-10 isolation boards and NE-1 isolation feet in the Noise Eater series.
The KT-9 and FD-9 can be used with the kick and hi-hat trigger inputs on all V-Drums sound modules.
The pedals are also compatible with Roland percussion pads such as the OCTAPAD SPD-30 and
HandSonic HPD-20.

Roland Exhibits CUBE Street EX PA Pack
Battery-powered stereo PA system and accessories
Summer NAMM Show, Nashville, TN, June 20, 2016 — Roland (Booth 923) is displaying the CUBE
Street EX PA Pack, a battery-powered stereo PA system and accessories package that’s both
durable and lightweight. Based around the popular CUBE Street EX amplifier, the CUBE Street EX
PA Pack is a complete performance solution with up to eight inputs and broad sound coverage for
musicians on the move.
Powerful and versatile, Roland’s CUBE Street EX is the leading choice in battery-powered
amplification for mobile performers. The CUBE Street EX PA Pack combines two CUBE Street EX
units and a host of valuable accessories in a single value-priced package. Accessories include a
water-resistant carrying case, two AC adapters, two mono cables for the Stereo Link function, and an
i-CUBE-LINK cable for CUBE JAM.
Compact and easy to carry, the CUBE Street EX features 50 watts of power, two eight-inch woofers
and two tweeters, onboard vocal and guitar effects, and up to 20 hours of operation on eight AA
batteries. In the CUBE Street EX PA Pack, the two amplifiers are connected together using the built-in
Stereo Link jacks to create an expanded system with 100 watts of total power for larger performing
situations.
Thanks to unique power circuitry developed by Roland, the CUBE Street EX delivers clean headroom
and audio reproduction beyond the capabilities of typical battery-powered amps. The power is
adjustable in three levels – Max (50 W), Normal (25 W), and Eco (10 W) – allowing users to conserve
battery life when maximum power is not necessary. The amplifier can also be powered with the
included AC adapter.
Each amplifier in the CUBE Street EX Pack has an onboard four-channel mixer, providing ample
connectivity for any kind of performing setup. Mic/Instrument and Mic/Guitar channels feature
XLR/TRS combo jacks to support microphones or devices with 1/4-inch outputs, and each channel
has its own three-band EQ and reverb. The mono/stereo Line In channel is equipped with 1/4-inch
jacks, while the Audio In channel provides a stereo 1/8-inch mini jack that also supports Roland’s iCUBE LINK and CUBE JAM. A rear-panel Aux In jack can be used to connect an additional mono
device if needed.
With the CUBE Street EX, guitarists can plug in and get pro sounds without having to bring extra gear.
COSM tones for electric guitar include Lead, Crunch, and Clean, plus an Acoustic Simulator for extra
versatility. There’s also an AC preamp optimized for acoustic/electric guitar, plus a built-in tuner.
Onboard chorus/delay and reverb effects can be turned on/off with optional footswitches.
The CUBE Street EX’s angled back offers excellent projection for street gigs, small venues and
monitoring on larger stages. For enhanced sound coverage, the amp can be mounted on an optional
ST-A95 Speaker Stand.
