JL Audio SB-F-Edg is a car audio Stealthbox subwoofer system designed to deliver years of listening pleasure with proper installation. Thank you for choosing a JL Audio Stealthbox ® for your automotive sound system. With proper installation, your new vehiclespecific enclosed subwoofer system will deliver years of listening pleasure.

We strongly recommend that you have your new Stealthbox ® installed by your authorized JL Audio dealer. The installation professionals employed by your dealer have the necessary tools and experience to disassemble and reassemble your vehicle properly. Also, keep in mind that your warranty coverage extends to 2 years if your system is installed or approved by your authorized JL Audio dealer. If you prefer to perform your own installation, please read this installation guide completely before beginning the process.

If you choose to perform the installation yourself, it is absolutely vital that the Stealthbox ® be properly mounted to the vehicle according to these instructions. Failure to mount the enclosure properly presents two problems:

1) The sub-bass performance will suffer due to the movement of the enclosure caused by the force exerted by the woofer(s).

2) A loose enclosure presents a serious safety hazard in the event of a collision or sudden deceleration.

Remove the floor panel by lifting seat flaps. Carefully tilt entire panel to exit hatch diagonally.

Remove threshold plate by lifting directly upward.

Remove foam filler panel or plastic storage tray from passenger side of spare tire.

Fold passenger side rear seat forward.

Remove bolt securing seat belt at lower front of cargo side panel. s t e P 5

Remove passenger side threshold plate. s t e P 6

Pull passenger side cargo panel away from the door jamb.

Remove passenger side cargo panel by prying away from side of vehicle and floor. If equipped, unbolt and remove the factory subwoofer enclosure.

S T E P 8

Insert a 1/4”-20 U-Nut into the square hole near the weatherstripping as shown.

In vehicles equipped with the factory subwoofer, the existing

U-Nut can be used here instead, as well as in steps 9-10.

Insert a 1/4”-20 U-Nut into the square hole near the side window, as shown.

S T E P 1 0

Insert a 1/4”-20 U-Nut into the square hole just above the wheel well, and align the Large Bracket, as shown. Place a

1/4” Lock Washer and a 1/4” Flat Washer over a 1/4”-20 x 1

Bolt, and thread the assembly through the hole in the Large

Bracket and into the 1/4”-20 U-Nut, as shown. Firmly tighten to secure the Larrge Bracket to the vehicle.

Route speaker wire to the Stealthbox location as necessary.

Attach the Z Bracket to the front of the Stealthbox® using a

1/4”-20 x 1 Bolt, a 1/4” Lock Washer, and a 1/4” Flat Washer, as shown, and hand tighten.

Attach the L Bracket to the top of the Stealthbox® using a

1/4”-20 x 1 Bolt, a 1/4” Lock Washer, and a 1/4” Flat Washer, as shown, and hand tighten.

Slide the Stealthbox® around the Large Bracket from the top, and press the enclosure into position, aligning the Z Bracket and L Bracket with the two 1/4”-20 U-Nuts installed in steps

8-9. Align the Large Bracket with the threaded insert at the bottom of the Stealthbox®.

Place a 1/4” Lock Washer and a 1/4” Flat Washer over a 1/4”-20 x 1 Bolt, and thread the assembly through the hole in the

Z Bracket and into the 1/4”-20 U-Nut, as shown, and hand tighten.

S T E P 1 6

Using a 1/4”-20 x 1 Bolt, a 1/4” Lock Washer, and a 1/4” Flat

Washer, attach the Large Bracket to the Stealthbox®, and hand tighten.

S T E P 1 7

Using a 1/4”-20 x 1 Bolt, a 1/4” Lock Washer, and a 1/4” Flat

Washer, attach the L Bracket to the Stealthbox®, and hand tighten.

Next, firmly tighten all three brackets onto the Stealthbox®, then firmly tighten the the Z Bracket and L Bracket to the vehicle.

Attach the speaker wire to the Stealthbox®.

In vehicles equipped with the factory subwoofer, steps 20-

25 are not required.

Place the cargo side panel onto a flat surface with back side up. Locate back side of storage compartment. Carefully grind the heads of the plastic spot welds to allow removal of the compartment enclosure. Take care not to damage the front of the panel.

Remove storage compartment from side panel. s t e P 2 2

Using the provided grille as a guide, mark the required grille opening onto the side cargo panel with grease pencil or masking tape. Cut out the opening to allow fitment of the grille with maximum open area. s t e P 2 3

Position the provided grille template on the front side of the cargo panel so as to cover the storage pocket opening and align with horizontal ridges below. Tape into place.

Drill 1/8 inch holes as indicated on the template.

Install the grille with short #8 screws and #8 flat washers as provided.

Step backwards through steps 7- 1, installing side cargo panel, side threshold plate, rear seat belt bolt, rear threshold plate and floor as removed.

The JL Audio XD300/1 is a very versatile audio component. Please consult the owner’s manual for even more detailed information about installing and tuning this amplifier.
