 Will this device act as an HDMI cable replacement?
o The Miracast receiver is not designed to act as a true cable replacement. Some pixilation and/or periodic signal
dropouts may occur and are not uncommon with wireless technology.
Performance
 In which applications should the Miracast Wireless receiver be used?
o The Miracast Wireless Adapter represents an exciting advance in technology that allows users to easily display A/V
content from a mobile device. This wireless technology utilizes a peer-to-peer network for A/V content streaming,
preserving the resources of existing wireless networks. As with other wireless technologies, the Miracast Wireless
Adapter is susceptible to interference. This interference may cause occasional signal dropouts which may be
acceptable in some applications and not in others. The guide below outlines typical applications for which the Miracast
Wireless Adapter is an ideal solution and other applications which may require an alternative solution.
 The Miracast Receiver is ideal for:
 Home Entertainment - Display the screen from your Windows 8.1 or Android device quickly and easily
on your television.
 Great for sharing photo’s, video clips, internet content, applications or really anything you can display on your
device to you TV
 Conference Rooms, Classrooms, Meeting Spaces
 Great for easily connecting to the display in the room for presenting, collaborating and sharing
information
 Easily turn a mobile device into a wireless document camera by utilizing the device’s camera function
and connecting to the display through the Miracast device
 Presentations on the go
 Pack a Miracast device in your bag and connect to the display wherever you are. Great for Sales
Professionals, Real Estate Agents, Students, Teachers or anyone else who needs to share information
on while on the go.
 The Miracast Receiver is not recommended for:
 Installation in areas where the Miracast receiver is not accessible such as:
 Next to ceiling mounted projectors where the receiver cannot be reached for occasional reset or
pairing
 Enclosed locations such as closets, ceiling areas, plenum boxes or equipment boxes
 High density deployments where multiple receivers are accessible from a single location due to signal
overlap
 This product is also not recommended for use in environments where a highly stable/flawless
connection is required.
o For example, in medical applications, stock market trading floor, military command centers,
etc.
Functionality
 What is the function of the pairing/reset button?
o The pairing function of this button must be used the first time an Android mobile device is connected to the Miracast
Receiver to associate that device with the receiver. After a mobile device has been associated once, then the pairing
button does not need to be used for subsequent connections.
o The reset function of this button is used to unpair a user from the unit or to recover the unit from a static image or fault
to return to a state which will allow a new connection to be established.
 Will using the reset function require previously associated mobile devices to be associated again using the Paring button?
o No, using the reset function will not disassociate devices that have been previously been associated with the Miracast
Wireless receiver.
 How many devices may be associated with the Miracast receiver?
o There is no limit to the number of devices that may be associated with the Miracast Wireless receiver; however only
one device may be active with the receiver. The active device must be disconnected before a new device may be may
be connected and used.
 Is it possible for multiple devices to be simultaneously paired with the Miracast receiver?
o No, it is not possible for multiple devices to be simultaneously connected to the Miracast Receiver. The Miracast
Receiver is designed to display one device at a time.
 Will the Miracast signal interfere with other wireless signals in the installation environment?
o It is highly unlikely that the Miracast signal will interfere with other wireless signals in the installation environments.
Because the Miracast Receiver operates on a peer-to-peer network with the mobile device, it provides the added
benefit of not placing additional load on existing wireless networks.
 Is it possible to use multiple Miracast receivers in a single installation?
o It is recommended that Miracast receivers not be placed within 30ft of one another. If the installation environment can
accommodate this separation of the receivers, then multiple receivers may be used in a single installation
Functionality
 Which drivers must be installed on the source device in order to sync with the Miracast receiver?
o Miracast capability is built-in to many source devices which will not require a separate driver installation to function
with the Miracast receiver; however some devices may require a driver from the device manufacturer. Consult the
owner’s manual of the mobile device for specific driver requirements.
Installation and Support
 What is the setup procedure for the Miracast Receiver and a mobile device?
o Connecting the Miracast Receiver to the Display
 Make sure the display is powered OFF.
 Connect a High Speed HDMI cable from the C2G Miracast Wireless Adapter to an available HDMI input on the
TV.
 Connect the USB Power cable from the C2G Miracast Wireless Adapter (USB Micro) to an available USB A port
on the display. An AC to USB adapter may also be used for power.
 Power on the display and select HDMI input to which the C2G Miracast Wireless Adapter is connected.
o Pairing the Mobile Device to the Miracast Receiver:
 Access the Miracast pairing function of the mobile device. This procedure varies for Below is an example of the
steps for a Samsung device
 Go to “Settings” on the smartphone and select “More Settings”.
 Select “AllShare Cast” (Note: AllShare Cast is a name specific to Samsung. This name will vary based on
the manufacturer of the mobile device.)
 From the Miracast pairing menu select the device “AV Receiver”
 If this is the first time the mobile device will be connected, then Press the Pairing button on the side of the C2G
Miracast Wireless Adapter. If the mobile device has been previously paired with this Miracast receiver, then
this step is not required
 The mobile device will then be paired with the Miracast receiver and, once the pairing is complete, the image
of the mobile will be displayed on the TV.
 What troubleshooting steps should I follow if I have a signal dropout?
o If this is occurring frequently, try connecting to a router or access point that operates in a less congested Wi-Fi channel
band. If there is not another router or access point available, manually designate a specific channel for the router or
access point based on the manufacturer’s instructions. (Miracast will follow the same channel as the router or access
point. When the router or access point is on a less congested channel, the Miracast will be on a less congested channel
also resulting in improved performance.)
o Update the driver of the Wi-Fi and graphics adapter cards.
o Wireless signal dropouts can also be attributed to an interruption of the HDMI signal from the Miracast adapter and the
source device. When the HDMI signal is disconnected or experiences an unstable signal, the wireless connection will
terminate and the receiver will return to the main screen. Ensure that all connections are secure and that a shielded
and reliable HDMI cable is used.
o Cycle power of the source device (phone, tablet or computer)
 Is there any guidance to where the Miracast receiver should be installed?
o
This device should be installed in a location that is easily accessible in the event a receiver reset is required.
