WebSTAR™ EPC2100™ Cable Modem
Description
The WebSTAR™ EPC2100™ Cable Modem (EPC2100) provides
Euro-DOCSIS broadband network operators with a cost-effective
solution for delivering standards-based, high-speed data services to
their subscribers. The EPC2100 also features Dual Mode. This
feature allows the network operator to deploy the EPC2100 in
networks that use DOCSIS® downstream technology. 1
The EPC2100 features WebWizard, a browser-based user interface.
WebWizard is a powerful tool that facilitates installation and
troubleshooting. WebWizard eliminates the need to load set-up
software on the customer premises equipment (CPE). The EPC2100
also features five front-panel LED status indicators that provide
visual feedback of real-time data transmission and operational
status.
Cable Modem Access Protection
The EPC2100 features Cable Modem Access Protection. When
enabled, this feature blocks network side access to the CPE. This
software-based "standby switch" provides the user with the ability to
disable the Ethernet and USB data communications when their computers are not in use, which reduces the risk of
unauthorized "hacking" into the CPE. This quick and simple “off” mechanism is used instead of physically
disconnecting cables. Cable Modem Access Protection can be activated manually at any time or activated
automatically after a user-selected period of CPE inactivity. In the automatic mode, normal operation is quickly
restored without the loss of any packets when outbound CPE activity is detected by the modem.

The EPC2100 Rev 2.0 and later can be deployed in DOCSIS networks with either 6 MHz or 8 MHz channel spacing. EPC2100 revisions prior to Rev 2.0 can
operate in DOCSIS networks with 8 MHz channel spacing only.
