September 2002 HeadAMP Four Output Stereo Headphone Amp The Facts about Headphone Amplifiers: Usage: Most home recordings involve from one to four people, any or all of whom are going to need headphone monitoring. The monitor amp would be connected to the tape deck’s headphone output or a mixer output so that the performers can hear themselves and each other. Of course the same application can apply to band rehearsals and even home entertainment. HeadAMP provides amplification and individual volume control for up to 4 headsets. It can be driven by either line-level or headphone amplifier signals (mono or stereo). a.) Connect the power adaptor to the HeadAMP’s adaptor input and connect the other end to a 120V AC power outlet. Specifications: • Power: 12V DC (Adapter included) • 4 output channels each with its own volume control • Stereo 1/4” Input jack can be connected to any line-level or headphone amp output • Four stereo 1/4” headphone outputs • Power on LED • Maximum Input Level: +14dBV • Maximum Output Level: 20dB per channel • Output Impedance: 51 Ohms per channel • S/N Ratio: >90dB • THD: <0.01% • IMD (SMPTE): 0.01% b.) Connect the stereo line-level output or headphone output of a mixer, tape deck, CD player, VCR, etc. to the HeadAMP’s Stereo Input with a stereo shielded patch cord. Always be sure to use a stereo plug in this jack to avoid damaging the circuitry. c.) A mono source such as a mixer’s monitor output can be connected to HeadAMP’s Input with a modified stereo patch cord. To modify the cord, you or a technician would interconnect the tip and ring tabs inside the plugs. With an unmodified stereo cord attached, sound will be present in one ear only. d.) Connect headphones to the Output jacks and adjust the volume controls as required.
