Proper Keyboarding Technique
Introduction to Keyboarding
Using Good Technique
What is Keyboarding?
 The ability to enter text by using the correct
fingers without looking at the keys (aka-touch
typing).
 Having adequate keyboarding skills will enable you
to use the computer more effectively and be more
productive.
The Keyboard Layout
• The central portion that consists of the
alphanumeric keys
Alphanumeric = Letters & Numbers
The Keyboard Arrangement
• The most common arrangement of keyboards is the
QWERTY keyboard.

you are on the right keys and that you are typing
correctly.
C- Technique

Key each key with the correct finger, always
have your fingers on home row.
Notice diagonal design of the keyboard
Always press the keys with the correct finger.
Keep your 'J' finger on the 'J' key when you
depress the 'enter' key.
Use correct fingering based on the home row

finger presses the 'backspace' key.
T- Technique

Keyboarding is a repetition skill. The more
practice time you devote, the better you will

Stay on task and have a positive attitude
toward improving your technique
