DV-CP704
HDMI DVD/CD/MP3 6-DISC CHANGER
Available in Silver or Black
Exceptional Style and Stunning Performance with Endless Hours of Non-Stop Entertainment
A great way to complement a home theater playback component with multiple disc format capabilities is to give it extended playback
capabilities and superior signal processing. Also, anything as good-looking as the DV-CP704 HDMI DVD/CD/MP3 6-disc changer is going to
be welcome in any home or as part of any system. It will take charge of DVD-Video and MP3-/WMA-/HD JPEG-enabled discs all for output
via HDMI (on top of digital, component, S-Video outputs) to compatible HDTV displays and receivers. Also, with the inclusion of Onkyo’s
Vector Linear Shaping Circuitry (VLSC) and Direct Digital Path, the emphasis is on delivering an audio signal without the noise that plagues
other poorly built playback components. With easy operation and simple integration, the DV-CP704 is a sophisticated addition to any home
theater system.
HDMI Interface for High-Bandwidth Connectivity to HDTVs and
AV Receivers
With the prices of HDTVs falling to more affordable levels, the investment is
becoming a more viable proposition. If you’re not quite ready to take the leap,
it pays to keep your options open. The High-Definition Multimedia Interface
(HDMI) on the DV-CP704’s rear can output uncompressed video and every
other format that this player is capable of. You can pass video directly to an
HDMI-enabled HDTV or pass multichannel audio to your AV receiver, including
Dolby Digital and DTS signals. Since HDMI carries all channels on video and
audio, there is only one cable to plug into any HDMI-enabled source and
display device, which means no unsightly cable mess and a straightforward
connection process.
Vector Linear Shaping Circuitry (VLSC) for Noiseless Signal Processing
Essentially, a player’s primary purpose is to read digital information and convert
that information into an analog signal to feed to an amplifier or A/V receiver.
Digital audio signals cannot escape pulse noise (which is particularly harmful
in compressed formats). Conventional digital-to-analog conversion methods
reduce digital pulse noise at the conversion stage but can’t remove it completely.
Onkyo’s VLSC is a unique conversion circuit designed to overcome this problem.
Data is converted between the sampling points, and these discrete sampling
points are joined with analog vectors in real-time to produce a smooth output
wave form. This ensures that the DV-CP704’s disc drive emits the cleanest
possible signal from DVD video, PCM audio CDs and MP3-/WMA-encoded discs.
Direct Digital Path for Clean Signal Transfer
Unlike other DVD players that use inexpensive PC board copper traces to transfer
the digital audio signal, the DV-CP704 use a high-purity, heavy-gauge, shielded
cable to directly output digital or PCM bitstreams straight from the disc to the
back panel. This way, the cable protects the audio signal against potential noise
from nearby microprocessors and power supplies. So if you use the optical or
coaxial digital output to send multichannel or stereo sources to your compatible
receiver, you’re starting off with the cleanest possible signal.
Progressive Scan with 108 MHz/14-Bit Digital-to-Analog Processing
Progressive scan capability—the ability to produce video in complete frames
with no motion artifacts, a scan-line free image, vividly clear color and incredibly
sharp detail—is now commonplace among home entertainment playback
components. The DV-CP704 will transmit interlaced or progressive through
HDMI to match the resolution, like 720p or 1080i, of your connected display.
Also, the DV-CP704’s onboard 108 MHz/14-bit DAC gives you the precise
video conversion needed for quality output via component, S-Video and
composite video.
6-Disc Capability Offering a Range of Playback Options
Obviously a key advantage with a carousel player is the ability to choose and
mix your DVDs and CDs for playback as you want. You can keep your latest
discs in the drive and change as you please. The DV-CP704 has two modes
that let you take this further: Chain Mode and Party Mode. With Chain Mode,
you can play all discs (from DVD-Videos, CDs and MP3-/WMA-encoded CDs)
consecutively. Alternatively, if you want to focus purely on music, you can use
Party Mode, which will play all audio discs, including MP3-/WMA-encoded CDs
You can also select from among three playback functions—repeat, A-B Block
Repeat, Random—for individual disc playback.
Remote Controller Offering Straightforward Operability
With a range of discs loaded for playback, you want to be able to control
everything without any fuss. The included remote controller enables easy
access to the following: title, chapter and track numbers from DVDs and
audio CDs; Dolby Digital and DTS formats, subtitles and foreign languages;
aspect/zoom modes; resolution; and onscreen setup menus. Also, you can
automatically switch to Chain mode from an individual disc by selecting the
appropriate button on the remote controller.
