Larger Quadtrac footprint allows earlier start on the job with better flotation than competitive ‘two-track’ designs. Case IH engineers first introduced the QUADTRAC
design in 1996, and it’s led the industry ever since. Like its predecessors, the QUADTRAC tractor continues the tradition of setting new industry benchmarks. What
makes the QUADTRAC different from wheeled tractors and two-track designs? For starters, the four independent tracks make a larger footprint for greater flotation.
That lets you keep working as jobsite conditions change, and drive through wet spots you wouldn’t dare with traditional tires or twin-track systems.
QUADTRAC® UNDERCARRIAGE
MORE FLOTATION. LESS COMPACTION.
A QUADTRAC TRACTOR
offers full-power turns under load, unlike two-track systems that vary
power to each track during turns — no additional power is required to
turn. Conventional articulated steering also reduces soil disturbance,
letting the Quadtrac tractor turn with minimal ridging or berming.
The proven track design of a Case IH QUADTRAC tractor features
positive drive, self-adjusting tension, and self-cleaning rubber belts.
A redesigned undercarriage features larger idlers and a centrally
located drive wheel for less vibration and longer track life.
THE QUADTRAC TRACTOR
oscillates up to 26 degrees to walk over uneven terrain while keeping tractor weight evenly distributed for more
traction. Tracks pivot up to 20 degrees vertically to ensure soil contact, greater fl otation, less compaction,
superior traction and an industry-leading ride. And QUADTRAC easily walks over uneven terrain without a
“break-over” point typical of competitive two-track systems.

RESEARCHERS TURN TO QUADTRAC WITH LIVES ON THE LINE IN ANTARCTICA
The National Science Foundation is using an STX450 Quadtrac in Antarctica to transport millions
of gallons of diesel fuel and supplies from McMurdo Station to the South Pole, a distance of about
1,000 miles across snow and ice. The conditions are among the world’s harshest, with high winds
and temperatures dipping to minus-70 degrees Fahrenheit, and reliability is a must with lives in the
balance. Because of its four-track design with articulated steering, the Quadtrac is proving to have
capabilities other rubber-track tractors lack. It has been able to pull two 4,500-gallon sleds. Another
ag-type tractor on two rubber tracks could handle only one sled.
