cs-345 cd hi-fi mini system - AV-iQ
(iPhone not included)
When Sound Quality Comes First
While other docking systems place style over substance, Onkyo bucks the trend with its CS-345—a mini system for music
lovers who refuse to compromise on sound quality. For a start, the easy-access dock provides a digital link between your
iPod ®/iPhone ® and the amplification circuitry for a cleaner signal transfer and clearer sound. Performance is enhanced with
Active Bass Control—which automatically adjusts bass levels to prevent fade at low volume—while Super Bass lends a powerful,
compelling gravity to all your music. Two-way bass-reflex speakers feature MDF construction for enhanced sound quality and
longer life. The compact cabinets feel satisfyingly solid, and house a high-quality cone woofer and balanced-dome tweeter for
brilliant separation of highs and lows. The system has practical features where and when you need them. The front-mounted CD
tray is easy to load, and plays audio compact discs, MP3 compilations, and CD-R/CD-RW discs. There’s a video line out for
iPod/iPhone playback on TV; a dedicated subwoofer pre-out; an FM/AM radio tuner with 30-station preset; tone controls for
bass and treble; and a full-function remote control. With timeless style and the substance to back it up, Onkyo’s CS-345 is ready
to blow the dust off your music collection.

Built-in Dock for Direct Digital Connection of
In addition to handling CDs, the CS-345 features a
top-loading dock for iPod/iPhone. This direct digital
connection allows you to access podcasts and music in a
variety of audio formats. As the audio signals are
transported in digital form, rather than analog, there is
much less possibility of signal degradation. Tracks on your
iPod/iPhone can be browsed, skipped, and shuffled using the
accompanying remote control.
Efficient Digital Amplifier Circuitry for Clean
Audio Signals
The CS-345 employs digital amplifier circuitry to extract a
noise-free signal from digital audio sources. Whether it’s on
a standard CD or in a compressed MP3 file stored on CD,
your music will sound clearer than ever. Because digital
amplifiers can convert power with very high levels of
efficiency, much less energy is wasted as heat. With no need
for a bulky heat sink, the amplifier design can be smaller and
lighter. Hence, the CS-345 can provide room-filling power
that belies its modest size.
Active Bass Control
At quiet volume levels, human hearing becomes less
sensitive to sounds at the upper and lower ends of the
audible spectrum. To compensate for the perceived loss of
bass sounds at lower volumes, the CS-345 incorporates
Onkyo’s proprietary Active Bass Control. This function
maintains an optimal balance of low-frequency sounds by
making automatic, real-time adjustments in line with the
playback volume. Listeners are able to enjoy smooth and
natural-sounding bass at any volume level.
Compact Yet Solid Two-Way Bass-Reflex Speakers
The CS-345 includes a pair of bass-reflex speakers
incorporating a two-way design for clearer separation of
highs and lows. Both cabinets feature a powerful 4” (10 cm)
woofer and a balanced-dome tweeter. The speakers are
constructed from durable MDF (Medium Density
Fiberboard), rather than regular fiberboard. This higherquality material enhances sound quality and prevents the
finish from rolling back, cracking, or splitting.
