1080p Upscaling DVD/CD/MP3 6-Disc Changer
Endless Hours of Uninterrupted Video and Music Playback with
1080p Upscaling, HDMI™ Connectivity and RIHD Integration
Taking the checklist to the DV-CP706 is a simple way to reveal its all-round home theater appeal. You can begin by noting its capability
to store, change, and play up to six video and audio discs (including MP3- and WMA-encoded discs). Then, add another check mark for
being the first Onkyo six-disc changer to be able to upscale standard DVDs all the way to high-definition 1080p resolution. And should
you connect this player to an A/V receiver with highly advanced scaling capabilities, you can also choose to output the video at a native
resolution of 480i.With Onkyo's RIHD (Remote Interactive over HDMI) function, the DV-CP706 will seamlessly integrate with any of
our compatible A/V receivers. It also employs Onkyo’s VLSC circuitry for noise-free digital-to-analog audio signal processing, along with
user-friendly control functions such as Disc Navigator. Add to that an impressively robust build—with an isolated circuitry layout to
minimize digital noise, a solid fascia, and an ultra-quiet loading mechanism—and you have a six-disc changer that will provide years of
movie and music entertainment perfectly tailored to your needs.

VLSC (Vector Linear Shaping Circuitry) and Isolated
Circuit Layout Contribute to Audio Signal Purity
With high-definition 1080p HDTVs becoming a mainstream fixture in
the home, you now have the chance to bring a visual quality to DVDs
that was previously lacking. The DV-CP706 uses the HDMI interface to
deliver video or two-channel audio to an HDMI-enabled HDTV or A/V
receiver (multichannel audio is delivered via the DV-CP706’s digital
outputs). With HDMI, there’s no unsightly cable mess and a
straightforward connection process.
A player’s main purpose is to read digital information and convert it
into an analog signal to feed to an amplifier or A/V receiver. One
problem with digital audio signals—and especially those in compressed
formats—is their susceptibility to harmful pulse noise. To counter this,
Onkyo’s VLSC uses a unique digital-to-analog conversion circuit to
ensure that the DV-CP706’s disc drive extracts the cleanest possible
audio signal from DVD-Video discs, PCM audio CDs, and MP3-/WMAencoded discs. Furthermore, particular attention has been paid to the
DV-CP706’s internal circuit layout, so as to prevent the influence of
digital noise.
High-Definition 1080p Video Upscaling
If you’ve already invested in an HDTV, or are planning to in the near
future, the DV-CP706 is the perfect vehicle for getting the best from up
to six DVD-Video discs. You can either watch your video source in its
native resolution, or you can upscale it to 1080p video resolution by
simply pressing a button on the remote control. Upscaled video
sources are delivered via HDMI.
6-Disc Capability Offering a Range of Playback Options
Obviously a key advantage with a carousel player is the ability to
choose and mix your DVDs and CDs for playback as you want. While
the DV-CP706 is actively playing back a disc, you’re free to select the
next one. Simply keep your latest discs in the drive and change them
whenever you please. The DV-CP706 has two modes for playback:
Chain mode and Party mode. With Chain mode, you can play all discs
(including DVDs, CDs, and MP3-/WMA-encoded CDs) consecutively.
Or, if you want to focus purely on music, Party mode skips DVDs and
plays only discs containing audio. You can also select from among three
modes for individual disc playback: Repeat, A-B Block Repeat, and
Disc Navigator for Easy Access to Video and Audio
Disc Navigator is a system that lets you view, search, and select all your
media via an intuitive on-screen display. This function can be selected
and operated using the cursor on your remote control. While playing
back DVD videos, you can select various options, such as title or
chapter. Disc Navigator is also very useful when browsing computerbased files (including WMA, MP3, and JPEG). When these files are
burned to disc, the content is often held within multiple folders. Disc
Navigator makes browsing and selecting digital files simple and
RIHD (Remote Interactive over HDMI) for Integration
with Compatible Onkyo A/V Receivers and Brand-Name
The DV-CP706 features Onkyo's RIHD compatibility, enabling easy
integration with compatible Onkyo A/V receivers and leading-brand
displays, including selected Sharp models and models with Panasonic
VIERA Link*1 and Toshiba CE-Link capability. RIHD functionality allows
your system to be connected via HDMI, for straightforward integration
and operation of multiple components.
*1 Panasonic VIERA Link is the new name for EZ Sync.
