User Guide TPFX35 3.5” Digital Photo Frame IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION INTRODUCTION Read these instructions. Keep these instructions. Heed all warnings. Follow all instructions. Clean only with a slightly damp cloth. Warning: To reduce the risk of fire or electrical shock, do not expose this product to rain or moisture. Caution: Changes or modifications not expressly approved by the manufacturer could void the user’s authority to operate this device. IMPORTANT This equipment generates, uses and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful interference to radio communication. However,this is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular installation. If this equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or television reception, which can be determined by turning the equipment off and on,the user is encouraged to try to correct the interference by one of the following measures: - Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna. - Increase the separation between the equipment and receiver. - Connect the equipment into an outlet on a circuit different from that to which the receiver is connected. - Consult the dealer or an experienced radio/TV technician for help. Your Photo Frame (DPF) enables you to view digital pictures from a memory card. The DPF is compatible with these card formats: SD™ (Secure Disk),SDHC™ (Secure Disk High Capacity), MMC™(Multimedia Card), and MS™ (Memory Stick). The DPF will play .jpg (jpegs). Other picture formats should be converted to jpgs via photo editing software. FILES AND FOLDERS You may group your photos into Albums (folders) with pictures inside each album. The DPF reads the folders and plays the photos in sets but you cannot select individual folders. The player needs time to load and display pictures. Lots of high resolution photos will slow loading times. UNPACKING The carton should contain: • The Photo Frame: USB cable : Operating Manual If any items are missing or damaged, contact your nearest TESCO store for a replacement. Have your receipt ready when you call. Retain the packaging. If you dispose of it, do so having regard to any recycling regulations in your area. Before using the player carefully remove any protective film covering the screen. Take care not to press on the screen. Inserting a memory card: Orient the card as shown in the drawing. Press gently in. The card will latch into place. To release a memory card. Grip the card and gently pull outwards. 2 2. To set the device in portrait orientation: Turn the mount counter-clockwise 90° until it locks. Stand the frame on a level stable surface where it cannot fall or get knocked over and where the power cord does not cause a hazard or cause the frame to overbalance. GETTING STARTED 1 CONNECTING THE DPF TO A PC • Plug the USB cable into the DPF. Plug the USB cable into the PC. When you connect the DPF to the PC for the first time: The language screen deploys. You must select English a language to initialise the DPF for it to work. Deutsch Landscape Portrait M The TECHNIKA welcome screen will deploy and then you will see the PC Connection screen. When this screen appears you can upload/download files. Page 4 UPLOADING AND DOWNLOADING FILES To view pictures you should access the Picture Menu: Access “My Computer” The DPF appears as a “removeable disk.” M M key Press the NEXT or PREVIOUS to move the hihlight to the Picture Menu Ç Ç Press the EXIT key to take the DPF to the main System menu. Ç M M The DPF will read the images on the card. If no button is pressed, after 8 seconds the Slide Show will start. The default is Slide show - other modes must be initiated. (see Pg 7-9) Click “Removeable Disk” You can now upload download and delete images on the card and view them on the PC. When a card is inserted this icon is Gold USING THE DPF When no card is inserted this icon is Blue This screen shows the DPF is in menu mode. This mode allows you to set up the DPF. Note: In this mode the SD card is not visible on “My Computer”. To view the card, press M twice to switch the frame OFF and then ON again. Slide show mode displays all viewable pictures in sequence. SLIDE SHOW MODE During the slide show: To move to the next picture: Press the NEXT key once M To move on several pictures repeatedly press the NEXT key. To move to the previous picture: Press the PREV. key once M To move back several pictures repeatedly press the PREV. key. Note: Larger pictures will take more time to load and display. To pause the slide show:MPress the PLAY/PAUSE ENTER key. THUMBNAILS During a SlideMShow: Press the EXIT key The slide show stops. The pictures on the card now display in pages of 9 thumbnails. The picture you were viewing last is highlighted. Picture details appear in the Right Hand window. NAVIGATING THUMBNAILS M To move forward a picture: Press the NEXT key. To move back a picture: Press the PREV. key.M To move to the next set of thumbnails: M Press the M key The highlight changes as you move between pictures. When you want to view a picture: M Press the PLAY/PAUSE ENTER key. The frame will now return to slide show mode. The slideshow will commence from the picture selected. In Slide Show mode: You can start, stop, and select pictures via thumbnails . You cannot rotate or zoom images. AFTER USE • Press and hold the M key to switch the DPF off. • Remove the media from the frame and store it securely. • Unplug the DPF from the PC. • Coil the USB cable loosely. • Store the frame and USB cable safely. Crop to Screen: This expands a photo to fill the screen but the M tops and bottoms of some photos may be cut off. Photo setup Full Screen. this displays images in their native aspect ratio. SLIDE SHOW SETTINGS Display mode Display ratio Slide time Slide effect • Slide time: Sets display time for each slide. Options include: 3Sec, 5Sec, 15Sec, 1Min, 5Min,15Min, 30Min. • Slide effect: Choose one of 10 transitions, or no effect (Close). 3: Press to go to System Setup. 4: Press again M M The System Setup Menu deploys. M To return through the menus: Press EXIT repeatedly. Each press returns you to the previous menu. . M the To move between Menu items: Press Slideshow Fit to Screen M 5Sec Shuffle M • Language: Select a language to display menus, etc. Default English. • Brightness: Select between -3 and +3 (Default setting 0). • Contrast: Select between -3 and +3 (Default setting 0). • Saturation: Select between -3 and +3 (Default setting 0). The above three settings allow you to alter the values of the screen. • Setup Reset: This resets all values to the factory setting Setup Reset Select Setup reset: Press . This box deploys Yes MUse the or keys to select YES or NO. No To select a menu item: Press M the To alter the value of a Menu Item: Press To confirm the selection: Press M You can now choose another menu item or press or keys. No Press to confirm. If you select NO: the display will revert to the menu screen. Press the EXIT key repeatedly. When you reach the main menu you can view your pictures with the new settings. If you select YES: The screen will go blank English and the system will re-boot. The welcome Deutsch Francais screen will re-appear briefly and then the Espanol language menu will deploy. Italiano Nederlands M Use the or keys to select a Portugues language. Press Etc, or M keys. to EXIT. I cannot rotate the picture. If your DPF is not working as well as you might expect, please work through this checklist before returning the unit to Tesco. • You are in Slideshow mode. Change to Browse mode. (see P. 10) When connected to a PC, I cannot see the card in ‘My Computer’. • Your PC must support WinMe/2000 (SP3)/XP/Vista • Unplug the DPF. Insert a supported media card. Reconnect. • You cannot see the card if you are viewing pictures or operating the frame. Switch the frame OFF and then ON again. (see P. 10) When connected to a PC I can see the card but cannot upload or download images. • You need to re-format the card. Refer to the ‘Help’ menu of your PC for the proper formatting procedure. WARNING: Reformatting will wipe out all information on the card. No image on screen. • Turn the DPF on. Re-connect the adapter. You will need to purchase a 5V USB power supply fitted with a miniUSB plug. This is readily available from good PC stores. 1: Plug the DC power jack of the adapter into the USB socket. 2: Plug the power adapter into the mains point. 3: Switch on at the mains. In normal use: The DPF will display the welcome screen and then the last used menu will deploy. If the DPF does not auto-start: 4: Press and hold the ON/OFF key M until the DPF switches on. You DPF is now ready for use. Page 10 TROUBLESHOOTING Some photos load very slowly. • Higher resolution photos load slowly. Use photos with lower resolution to speed up the loading time. (see Pg. 12) Note: The best resolution for the frame is 320x240. No advantage is obtained by using higher resolutions with this DPF. USING AN OPTIONAL USB POWER SUPPLY The system will now return to the menu screen. • Version: This allows you to view the current software version. Page 9 The DPF will not display some files from my Flash card. • A very few memory cards are incompatible with the device. Use a card which is supported by the Digital Photo Frame. • The file formats on the card might not be supported - Only JPG/ BMP files are viewable. Note: Some digital cameras save images into non-standard formats. MANIPULATING IMAGES After Use Switch off the DPF. Unplug the USB cable from the DPF and then unplug the cable from the PC. Unplug the memory card. Store the unit and accessories in a cool dry place, out of the reach of children and pets. Further Information The screen resolution is 320 x 240 pixels or 76,800 pixels (0.077MP). Higher resolutions will slow loading times without improving viewability. The maximum resolution the frame can accept is 4000x4000 pixels (16MP). After extended use, the frame may get warm. This is normal and not a cause for concern. Care and Cleaning Care and cleaning operations should be carried out with the unit unplugged from the PC. Clean the plastic parts with a barely damp cloth and then dry carefully. Clean the screen carefully with a special optical cloth, available from chemists and opticians. Warranty Your Technika appliance is covered by a warranty for 12 months from the date of purchase. If a fault develops during this period, please contact the TESCO electrical help line on 0845 456 6767. Please have your original purchase receipt with you when you call. This warranty in no way affects your consumer rights.
