Canon’s New XEED SX7 Mark II Multimedia Projector
New “Photo” & “DICOM SIM” Modes
Combining the Brilliance of LCOS and AISYS Optics
Brings Unrivalled High Resolution Image Quality
Canon is proud to introduce new multimedia projector – XEED SX7 Mark II,
featuring Canon’s self-manufactured LCOS reflective LCD panel that utilizes
the high 1400 x 1050 pixel (SXGA+), with new “Photo” & “DICOM SIM” mode
acheiving unrivalled projection image quality.
Coupled with the LCOS reflective LCD panel is the proprietary AISYS
(Aspectual Illumination System) optical illumination system tremendously
maximizes the performance of the projector in contrast and richness of
colours of the images while significantly reduces the size of the projector to
allow convenient mobility and display. XEED SX7 Mark II employs Canon’s
genuine optical lens that eliminates image distortion and offers perfect
geometry across the entire image.
New “Photo” & “DICOM SIM” mode reproduce the perfect images
In a bright room with various ambient lighting, there are problems such as loss
of black colors, pale colors and a feeling that the images are not sharp. The
new “Photo” mode of XEED SX7 Mark II incorporates 3 ambient light
adjustment functions via 3 preset brightness levels that correspond to variety
of indoor lighting conditions, allowing the projector to reproduce the perfect
images on screen and creates rich gradation
The new “DICOM SIM” mode of XEED SX7 Mark II can project a
monochrome medical image such as an X ray radiography, CT image, MRI
image, etc. in the tone similar to the DICOM (Digital Imaging and
Communications in Medicine) standard. XEED SX7 Mark II has 21 types of
tone setting for various ambient lights. You can correct the tone in a simplified
manner. It is suited to project a perfect & reliable image in a medical lecture,
academic conference, in-hospital conference, etc.
The Synergy of Two Revolutionary Technologies: LCOS & AISYS
Leading the world with optics and imaging technology advancement, Canon
has developed its own LCOS (Liquid Crystal on Silicon) reflective LCD panel
that delivers seamless high-resolution images free of the “Lattice” or
“Rainbow” effects by uniting the best of LCD and DLP technologies into a
single machine. This produces exceptional high-contrast image in
breathtaking clarity and rich colours across all projections from video, image
to data, addressing the inadequacies in contrast and colour richness that are
commonly found in traditional LCD projectors.
Canon developed AISYS (Aspectual Illumination System) optical illumination
system incorporates LCOS technology into a remarkable compact and
lightweight body without compromising on brightness and contrast. The
illuminating beams in the horizontal direction are made parallel so that the
ideal beams for the PBS (polarization beam splitter) can enter without
escaping for achieving high contrast. Also, the illuminating beams in the
vertical direction converge with a short focal distance for enabling high
brightness. AISYS also maximizes performance of LCOS panels to realize
bright and high-contrast images.
4,000lm Superb Image Brightness
With the use of a powerful 275W projector lamp, XEED SX7 Mark II gives
4,000lm of brightness which ensures a superb viewing experience even in
projection environments that are not adequately dimmed. It is optimal for
professional applications like in design, photography, simulations and medical
environments where high image quality is critical.
Canon 1.7x Zoom Lens Shortens the Projection Distance for Perfect
XEED SX7 Mark II features the same superior optical technology as EOS
SLR camera by employing the genuine Canon Optics 1.7x wide-angle
powered zoom lens. The lens can eliminate distortion and offer perfect
geometry across the entire image. Clear projection can be achieved from less
than 2 meters, and images up to 100 inches can be produced at a distance of
3 meters. It can project larger-sized image in a minimum space, which makes
it the perfect solution to overcome limited presentation space like Hong Kong.
The lens features a double-sided aspherical lens that corrects aberration
caused by different focuses between peripheral and central entering light
beams passing through a traditional spherical lens, thus maintaining image
sharpness. The lens also features a special coating to reduce flare and
ghosting, maximizing projection quality.
Auto Set-up for Optimum Performance
Auto Set-up function performs 4 vital set-up configurations automatically, at
the touch of a button, in as fast as 4 seconds. This convenient function helps
user effortlessly to create an ideal viewing configuration. The 4 set-ups
include Auto Focus which uses infrared sensor to measure distance to the
screen, thus accurately adjusting focus as fast as 1 sec; Auto Input Selection
which automatically detects and displays signal from input terminals; Auto
Keystone which automatically corrects image distortion caused by projecting
from an angle up to + / - 20° and Auto Colour Screen which automatically
adjusts colour balance to compensate for varying screen colour.
Off & Go – Save Precious Time for Packing-up after Presentation
Users no longer have to waste precious time waiting for the projector to cool
down after a presentation, all you have to do is simply unplugging the power
cord and packing up the projector and you are ready to leave. With this Off &
Go features, the internal circuitry will continue to run the fan and cool the
projector. It can also help to protect the bulb if the projector is unplugged
Super Compatibility
XEED SX7 Mark II also provides a full range of terminals such as DVI and
component, which enables direct connection to different input / output sources
and makes equipment set up simple and easy.
Canon’s new XEED SX7 Mark II multimedia projector is now available in
Hong Kong with suggested retail price of HK$41,980, together with 2-year
onsite warranty service.

About Canon Hongkong Company Limited
Canon Inc. (TSE:7751 / NYSE:CAJ) was founded in 1937 in Japan. Its predecessor,
Precision Optical Instruments Laboratory, produced Japan's first 35 mm focal-planeshutter camera in 1934, called the Kwanon. Canon Inc. eventually expanded into the
photocopying and printing industries, launching Japan’s first plain-paper copier in
1970 and the world's first inkjet printer in 1985. With over 70 years of experience in
imaging products manufacturing, Canon’s global revenue currently stands at
US$34.9 billion (as of 31 December 2009). The extensive resources it devotes to
research and development has made Canon one of the U.S. imaging industry’s top
technology patent-holders, and the only manufacturer across the globe to offer both
input and output device solutions to the world’s various imaging needs.
Established in 1971, Canon Hongkong Company Limited (CHK) responsibles for
sales, marketing and services of all Canon product lines in Hong Kong SAR, Macau
SAR, Taiwan, the Philippines and Mongolia, including its digital cameras, digital
video camcorders, printers, copiers, scanners, projectors and other imaging
merchandise. CHK adheres to Canon’s corporate philosophy, kyosei, which in
essence motivates the company with its staff to proactively strive for harmonious
coexistence with other citizens through participation in various social, charitable and
environmental activities. From year 2005, the Hong Kong Council of Social Service
has awarded CHK the Caring Company Logo in recognizing CHK’s continuous
efforts contributed to the local community. Furthermore, CHK also endeavours to
adopt internationally recognized management systems, having become certified in
conformance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 in 2003, 2004 and 2005
respectively. CHK is certified to COPC-2000® CSP Standard in 2006.
Being a responsible manufacturer, Canon leads to be the first in global to set up its
own Canon Toner Cartridge Recycle Factory located in Japan, China, U.S. and
France since 1990 to make sure all collected toner cartridges are utilize as reused
parts in new products. Up to year 2009, Canon has reduced the use of new
resources by 110,000 tons and CO2 emission by 310,000 tons. Likewise, CHK from
2008 has established Ink Cartridge Collection boxes placed in voluntary schools,
shopping malls, computer centres and commercial buildings. All used cartridges
collected will be delivered to factory for decomposition and recycling as materials of
other products.
