End-of-Sale and End-of-Life Announcement
for the Cisco 7500 Series Router

Cisco Systems announces the end-of-sale and end-of life dates for the Cisco 7500
Series Router. The last day to order the Cisco 7500 Series Router is December 15, 2007.
Customers with active service contracts will continue to receive support from the Cisco
Technical Assistance Center (TAC) as shown in Table 1 of the EoL bulletin.
Table 1 describes the end-of-life milestones, definitions, and dates for the Cisco 7500 Series
Router. Table 2 lists the product part numbers affected by this announcement.
Cisco offers several different products to help customers migrate from the Cisco 7500 Series
Router. For service provider applications, customers are encouraged to migrate to the Cisco
12000 Series Router. Customers may consider the Cisco 7600 or 10000 Series Router as an
alternative solution, depending on requirements. For enterprise WAN deployments, customers are
encouraged to migrate to the Cisco 7600 Series Router, 7200 Series Router, or Cisco Catalyst
6500 Series Switch. Table 3 provides relevant information for service providers and Table 4
provides relevant information for enterprise companies migrating from the Cisco 7500 Series
Router. Additional information about the replacement product can be found at the Websites below.

The last date that Cisco Engineering may

releases or bug fixes. After this date, Cisco
Engineering will no longer develop, repair,
maintain, or test the product software.

product failure or defect.

The Cisco 12000 Gigabit Switch Router with PRP-2
provides high-speed and scalable L2 and L3 PE/P
feature set. The new SIP/SPA interfaces provide a
comprehensive set of interface options from DS0 to OC192 and 10GE. The common SPA offers investment
protection and operational efficiencies as it is supported
on multiple platforms. With its new IOX operating
system the Cisco 12000 Gigabit Switch Router is able to
extend its industry leading high-availability features by
offering features such as ISSU and virtual routing with
IOS XR.
The Cisco 7600 Series Router with Supervisor 720 is a
scalable solution offering IPv4, IPv6, and advanced MPLS
and VPLS services in hardware, which are important for metro
Ethernet, mobile, and IP Sessions. Supporting interfaces
ranging from DS0 to OC-192 and high density 10GE Ethernet,
the 7600 can help provide transition while offering the option
to add incremental and new services. The Cisco 7600 Series
Router supports Cisco’s next-generation SIP/SPAs and
Enhanced FlexWAN, which offers investment protection by
allowing customers to reuse existing port adapters. The
Cisco 7600 Series Router offers ISSU making upgrade simple
for security patching.

parity with the Cisco 7500 including
token ring and BRI/IDSN. The Cisco
7200 series router offers IPSEC and
legacy protocols, which may be
