Haldex PURest air dryer Service Instructions
Below you will find brief information for air dryer PURest. The PURest air dryer is designed to remove moisture and contaminants from compressed air systems. It includes a multi-treatment cartridge that filters out water, oil, and other particles, ensuring clean and dry air for optimal vehicle performance. It can be easily serviced without removing it from the vehicle. The cartridge can be replaced with a new one included in the kit.

Multi-Treatment Cartridge Kit
Important
Stop engine when working under the vehicle.
Before servicing the air dryer, block the wheels to prevent the vehicle from rolling.
Drain all reservoirs and air lines to 0 psi. The air dryer can be serviced without being removed from vehicle.

Disassembly
1. Remove the four 15mm mounting bolts and discard. Lift the canister about 1/2” and remove.
2. Place the assembly upside-down (Figure 2). Press the cartridge down to compress the rubber spring then rotate counterclockwise 45° to release the cartridge. The cartridge itself contains no hazardous material, but there may be a small amount of oil from the compressor.
3. Clean the inside of the canister and aluminum housing.
4. Remove the cartridge o-ring and discard.
Assembly
1. Remove new cartridge included in the kit. Insure the rubber spring is attached (Figure 3).
2. Install the new cartridge into the canister. Align the slots on the cartridge with the dimples inside the canister. Press the cartridge into the canister and rotate clockwise 45° to engage cartridge (Figure 4).
3. Place a new o-ring on the aluminum housing.
4. Place the cartridge assembly on the air dryer housing and install the four new
15 mm mounting bolts. Using an alternating diagonal tightening process, torque to 35-40 ft.-lbs.
Operational Checks
Once the repair is complete, start the engine, build-up pressure to 100 psi and shut off the engine. Check for air leaks at the inlet, outlet and canister assembly.
Correct any leakage problem. Restart the engine and build-up pressure to cut-out pressure. At cut-out pressure the air dryer purge valve opens and immediately expels a large volume of air, followed by a slow flow of air lasting approximately thirty seconds.

Kit de cartucho de tratamiento múltiple
Importante
Detenga el motor cuando trabaje debajo del vehículo. Antes de darle servicio al secador de aire, bloquee las ruedas para evitar que el vehículo se desplace.
Drene todos los depósitos y líneas de aire a 0 psi. Al secador de aire se le puede dar servicio sin retirarlo del vehículo.

Desmontaje
1. Retire los cuatro pernos de montaje de 15mm y deséchelos. Eleve el cilindro a aprox. ½" y retírelo.
2. Coloque la unidad de forma invertida (Figura 2). Presione el cartucho hacia abajo para comprimir el resorte de caucho, luego gire 45° en sentido contrario a las agujas del reloj para liberar el cartucho. El cartucho en sí no contiene material peligroso, pero puede haber una pequeña cantidad de aceite proveniente del compresor.
3. Limpie la parte interior del cilindro y del compartimiento de aluminio.
4. Retire el empaque de anillo del cartucho y deséchelo.

Ensamblaje
1. Retire el nuevo cartucho incluido en el kit. Asegúrese de que el resorte de caucho esté fijado (Figura 3).
2. Instale el nuevo cartucho en el cilindro. Alinee las ranuras del cartucho con los agujeros dentro del cilindro. Presione el cartucho dentro del cilindro y gire 45° en el sentido de las agujas del reloj para enganchar el cartucho (Figura 4).
3. Coloque un nuevo empaque de anillo en el compartimiento de aluminio.
4. Coloque la unidad de cartucho en el compartimiento del secador de aire e instale los cuatro pernos nuevos de montaje de 15mm. Mediante el uso de un proceso de ajuste diagonal alternado, apriete a 35-40 pies/lb.
Revisiones de funcionamiento
Una vez que se haya concluido la reparación, ponga en marcha el motor, cargue presión hasta 100 psi y apague el motor. Revise si hay fugas de aire en la entrada, salida y en la unidad del cilindro. Corrija cualquier problema de fuga. Vuelva a arrancar el motor y cargue presión hasta llegar a la presión de escape. A la presión de escape, la válvula de purgado del secador de aire se abre e inmediatamente expulsa un gran volumen de aire, seguido de un flujo lento de aire que dura aproximadamente treinta segundos.
