Meaning
Lights up when a programming interface is active.
Power supply unit connected. (Device is receiving power from the
USB interface and the power supply unit).
Flashes if a fault occurs.
Only USB cable plugged in. (Power supply from the USB interface).
Flashes if a hardware fault occurs.
* The Power LED does not turn green until the SIMATIC USB-Prommer is connected to an active PC by means of the USB cable, and the power supply unit is plugged in.
If neither the POWER LED nor the BUSY LED lights up even though the USB cable is connected, either the SIMATIC USB-Prommer is in the power-saving mode (Hibernate mode), or the PC to which the device is connected is switched off.
Power supply
The USB cable supolies power from the PC to the SIMATIC USB-Prommer (POWER LED is yellow).
In this mode (without the plug-in power supply unit), the SIMATIC USB-Prommer can program only
SIMATIC Micro Memory Cards (MMCs).
If you intend on programming SIMATIC S7 Memory Cards, SIMATIC S5 EPROM modules, or
SIMATIC S5 Memory Cards, the SIMATIC USB-Prommer must be powered by the plug-in power supply unit as well (POWER LED turns green).
The device is supplied complete with a wide-range plug-in power supply unit with adapters for USA socket outlets, so that it can be used in countries on either continent.
Connecting the Power Supply
Proceed as follows:
1. Plug the DC 12 V supply cable from the power supply unit into the DC 12 V power supply connector on the SIMATIC USB-Prommer.
2. Fit the appropriate power-socket adapter to the plug-in power supply unit. The scope of supply includes an adapter for USA and a standard EURO adapter. The adapter is a push fit on the plug-in power supply unit.
3. Connect the power supply unit to your AC 230 V or AC 115 V mains power socket.
Notice
When the device is connected correctly, the green POWER LED on the SIMATIC USB-Prommer lights up. If the contacts of the power supply connector are dirty, we cannot guarantee that the prommer will function without errors occurring. The LEDs do not light up if the USB cable has not been connected to the SIMATIC USB-Prommer and the PC (which must be ON).
!
Warning
Use only the plug-in power supply unit supplied with the SIMATIC USB-Prommer to connect it to an external power supply.
Caution
For the operation of the SIMATIC USB-Prommer a power supply with limited performance
(USA/Canada: NEC Class 2) is required. The supplied plug fullfills the requirements.
