Safety instructions
General safety regulations
Attention! Mounting, installation, commissioning and repair of electronic devices have
! to be carried out only by qualified electricians. Thus, the current standards for the installation of door communication systems must be observed.
For working on systems with main connection of 230 V alternating voltage, the safety regulations according to DIN VDE 0100 must be observed.
When installing TCS:BUS® systems, the general safety regulations for telecommunication
systems according to VDE 0800 (and EN60950 safety standard for information technology
equipment must be observed. Inter alia:





separated conduit of heavy and low current lines,
minimum distance of 10 cm in case of a common conduit,
use of separators between heavy and low current lines within shared cable ducts,
use of standard communication lines, e.g. J-Y (St) Y with 0.8 mm diameter,
existing lines (modernisation) with deviating cross-sections can be used in compliance
with the loop resistance.
Installation – protective measures
With suitable measures to protect against lightning, it has to be ensured that a voltage
! of each 32 V DC is not exceeded at the connections.
Terms
MJPG
Ring buffer
MJPEG (Motion JPEG) is a codec, where every single image is
compressed as JPEG image with a compression rate of 1:5 to
1:13. The quality of MJPEG is-independent of movement.
A ring buffer stores data continuously in a determined period of
time and overwrites this data again after the preset time is up in
order to provide storage space for new data.

Commissioning
First install the system completely, than connect it to the mains voltage!
!  V1 and V2 must not be connected with the P-, a- or b-wire.
 When connecting the video wires V1 (+) and V2 (−) the polarity must be observed. If
you see a distorted picture after the commissioning, switch off the device and exchange the wires for the video signal.
 Ensure that the SD card is plugged accordingly to the marking on the type label in the
SD slot. The SD card is necessary for the storage of all configuration data and images.
The card must always be in the device.
For a safe functionality, only the enclosed SD card is to be used.
! The SD card can be ordered as spare part directly at TCS (see Spare parts, accessory, page 26).
 Switch on the mains voltage, the Video Streamer starts automatically. The LED indication (green) blinks for around 10 seconds and shines. The device is now ready for operation.
Error detection and indication
Errors when connecting the cables are signaled by flashing of the LED indication (red or
yellow). The optical error indication stays active until the error is corrected.

Start browser: establish a connection PC – IP Video Streamer
Prepare the network connection
The PC/Laptop must be equipped with a network connection and it must be located in the
same subnet as the Video Streamer. If your network and the Video Streamer are working
within the 192.168.1 address area (C net), you have direct access to the Video Streamer
(provided that this IP address is not used by another device).
Otherwise, the used PC/laptop has to be switched temporarily to an IP address within the
address area of the FBI6110 in order to establish a connection with the Video Streamer.
To establish/ adjust your network connection, please use the network installation assistant
or the help function of your operating system, keyword: set up network.
If several FBI6110 (in delivery state) are to be installed within one network, the devices
have to be commissioned one after another and a free IP address has to be assigned.
 To set up the network connection, you may need administrator rights.
 In delivery state, the following is preset at FBI6110:
IP address: 192.168.1.201
subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
user: admin
password: 1234

Live transmission
 Open an internet browser.
 Enter the IP address in the
address line of the Video
Streamers:
http://192.168.1.201.
 The start page of the web interface is called.
 Select Live transmission.
 The image of the current video
front-door station or camera
appears.
In case of an incoming call, the
image of the calling video
front-door station appears automatically.
After a door call is realised to the TCS:BUS® an upstream video switch FVU1210 resp.
VSW04 switches to the channel, which was configured with the corresponding AS address. The FBI6110 monitors the TCS:BUS® permanently and in this case updates the
indication of the video source within the webinterface when the menu live transmission is
active.
Further, a still picture is recorded automatically and stored on the SD card, if this feature
was activated for this AS address (video source) under Settings.

Thus, the digit for the input field “Group“ is similar to the digit
to send a short message as defined in configoTM.
 We recommend to create a list e.g.
Group 1: flats 1. Top floor right,
Group 2: flats 1. Top floor left etc..
 For further information on group assignment, see product information of the specific video indoor station.

 Unknown characters e.g. special characters are converted into blank spaces.
 To send a short message, an alpha numerical Pin with four digits
needs to be entered.

Accessibility from the internet
To ensure the accessibility of the Video Streamer, an internet connection with static IPaddress is necessary. In case of a DSL connection, the IP-address is assigned anew by
the internet provider with each call and max. after 24 hours. For this type of internet connection a DynDNS service can be used alternatively.
Thus, your router must be equipped with the following features:
 support of DynDNS
 port extension (port forwarding)
Please ensure that the router is equipped with this features when purchasing one.
Setup with static IP address
In the menu of the router, the following configurations are necessary. Generally you’ll find
the settings under a menu point port forwarding or similar.
 The port for the web server is to be lead to the Video Streamer. If you don’t operate another webserver within the network, you can state 80 as external port. If the port 80 is
already used by another webserver, please select a free port.
Note
In this case your Video Streamer can be accessed via internet in the browser by the entry: IP address: Port. As internal port, the 80 is to be entered. As internal IP address enter the IP address of
the Video Streamer.
 The port for the video transmission is to be lead to the router too. Enter the video port
which is set under Settings Video stream as internal and external port. As internal IP
address enter the IP address of the Video Streamer.
In the Video Streamer, the following configurations in the menu Network are necessary:
 Enter the internal IP address of your router as Gateway.
 As external IP/DynDNS address, enter the external IP address of your router and the
external port for the video transmission, separated by a colon.
 Press the Save button.
Setup with dynamic IP address and usage of a DynDNS service
Notwithstanding the indicated above, the following works have to be done:
 Registration e.g. under www.DynDNS.com or dynips.net
First register at the service provider. Enter the required name there, the IP address is
filled-in automatically.
Configuration in the router:
 Under the menu point DynDNS your selected address
(e.g. your name.dyndns.org) must be entered and activated.
Configuration in the Video Streamer (network):
 As external IP/DynDNS address, you have to enter your selected address, followed by a
colon and the port for the video transmission.
 Press the Save button.

IT safety
 Server are easy targets of attack, if they are available unprotected in the internet.
 TCS recommends to secure the access to the Video Streamer and to establish the connection via VPN.
 Therefore, you should find a safe server in the internet, which is equipped with an installed VPN server.
 A various number of DSL router supports the setup of a VPN network.
 Via the protected network you can communicate securely, because only VPN participants have access to the server.
 Please contact your administrator for further information.
Useful notes
How is the IP address of the PC/Laptop identified?
 Open the command prompt on your
PC/Laptop.
 Entert he command ipconfig (Windows
2000 or XP).
 Read out the IP address.
How is determined whether the IP address of the Video Streamer is already used?

Enter the command ping 192.168.1.201.
If you receive an answer from another device in case of a connected Video Streamer, the
