Upgrading Your Interface
Once your financial institution has begun the conversion process for upgrading your remote
deposit scanner interface, you will need to complete a simple, one-time upgrade to utilize the
new interface. Your existing browser settings and driver settings will be updated as needed. A
new feature, the Device Control, will also be installed.
The following components are required for working with the EPS application(s).
•
For Microsoft® Windows®:
•
Windows Vista® (except Starter or Home Basic): Microsoft Internet Explorer® 8 and 9.
•
Windows 7: Microsoft Internet Explorer 8, 9,10, and 11.
•
Windows 8: Microsoft Internet Explorer 10.
•
Windows 8.1, update 1: Microsoft Internet Explorer 11.
•
High-speed Internet connection.
The following table displays scanners that support the new features presented in this document
for Remote Deposit Scan, if applicable.

NOTE: The Panini I:Deal and WI:Deal have additional pocket settings which allow users
to change where the pocket is located (either at the front or back of the scanner)
and to change the pocket setting in between scanning checks (to either front or
back). The system will remember settings for the next deposit.

NOTE: Your menu options may differ from those featured below.
1. Navigate to your financial institution’s Merchant Portal and complete the User Name,
Password, and Company fields. Click Login.

2. From the top of the page, select Transactions.

3. The Where Are My Links? page will display, explaining that the old navigational links
for creating transactions have been updated. From the left navigational bar, select the
navigational link for your remote deposit payments solution. The Scan Check option will
now display as Remote Deposit Scan.

4. A welcome page for the new remote deposit user interface will display. To begin the
upgrade, select the Launch Device Control option.

NOTE: If after installing Device Control you arrive at this page again, selecting the
Launch Device Control option will simply launch the application for you.
5. A message will display, informing you that the Device Control is launching. Select OK to
continue.

6. They system will prompt you to install Device Control, the feature used to help manage
your scanning device(s). Select Install to continue.

7. The Device Control in the new interface will check for any browser updates that may be
necessary. If you do not have a group policy conflict, please proceed to the next step. If
you have a group policy that may conflict with any browser setting updates, a message
will appear (see below).

a. Paste the error details (now placed on your computer clipboard) into an email and/or
document for your technical support staff to view. Once this issue has been resolved,
retry the upgrade.
8. The Internet Browser Settings Update window will display. Read the agreement and
select Accept to acknowledge and agree to the terms described.

9. The system will now ask you to log out of the Merchant Portal. After logging out of the
portal, close all windows for Internet Explorer. Select OK to continue.

NOTE: If you have closed all Internet Explorer windows and are still receiving the above
prompt, restart your computer and retry the upgrade.
10. A Device Upgrades Required window will display, if applicable. Select Yes to address
device upgrades.

11. The Device Upgrades window will display, with a list of any upgrades required. At this
time, disconnect all scanning devices from the computer, and close all other
applications. Select Start Upgrades.

12. The system will perform the device upgrades. This may take several minutes. When
finished, the Performing Device Upgrades window will display as complete. Select OK
to continue.

NOTE: If the upgrade was not successful, an Upgrade Error message will display.
Restart your computer and retry the upgrade. If the upgrade is still unsuccessful,
please contact Customer Support at 877-542-2244.

13. The Device Upgrades window will now have a status that reads Upgrade Complete for
your device(s). Select Close to continue.

14. The system will prompt you to close all of your applications and restart your computer;
please do so at this time. Once the computer has finished restarting, you may reconnect
your scanning device(s).

Internet Security Settings
Trusted Sites
A user will need to ensure that the Merchant Portal URL is added to the Trusted Sites option in
Internet Settings. Use the following steps to add the website to your Trusted Sites.
1. Open Internet Explorer. From the top navigational menu, select Tools | Internet
Options.

2. From the tabs at the top of the Internet Options window, select Security.

3. Select the Trusted Sites icon to activate the Sites option. Select Sites.

4. The Trusted Sites window displays. In the Add this website to the zone field, enter
the URL: https://ssl.selectpayment.com and select Add.

Compatibility View Settings
Adding the EPS URL to the Compatibility View Settings feature of Internet Explorer may help
with viewing certain features in the application.
1. Open Internet Explorer. From the top navigational menu, select Tools | Compatibility
View Settings.

2. The Compatibility View Settings window appears. Within the Add this website field
provided, enter selectpayment.com and select Add.

3. Select Close at the bottom of the Compatibility View Settings window.
4. Select OK from the bottom of the Internet Options window.
Temporary Internet Files and History Settings
Configuring these settings can help with keeping the pages you navigate throughout the system
consistently refreshed with information.
1. Open Internet Explorer. From the top navigational menu, select Tools | Internet
Options.
2. From the tabs at the top of the Internet Options window, select General.

3. Under the Browsing history section, select the Settings option.

4. The Temporary Internet Files and History Settings window appears. Under Check
for newer versions of stored pages, select the Every time I visit the webpage option.

5. Select OK at the bottom of the Temporary Internet Files and History Settings
window.
6. Select OK from the bottom of the Internet Options window.
Roles and Privileges
Once you have installed the new interface settings, the roles and privileges for users are
automatically updated. The following table displays the new role within the Customer Services
privilege for Remote Deposit Scan.

Creating a Deposit
1. Log in to the Merchant Portal, and select Transactions from the top of the page.
2. From the left navigational bar, select Remote Deposit Scan.

3. If Device Control has not already launched, the system will ask you to confirm launching
Device Control. Select OK to continue.

4. The Remote Deposit Scan page will display with the Device Control online.

5. Check the Scanner Interface section on the Remote Deposit Scan page. The scanner
make and terminal number will populate.

6. The Service field will prompt you to Select a location above to scan a check. Select a
location and begin entering data and/or scanning checks.

The following new features now apply when scanning a check.
•
The Front of Check and Back of Check may be viewed by selecting the options
displayed.
•
Select Image 2 to either scan or view a secondary document (such as a stub)
associated with the check.
•
Select Rescan to scan the check again for a better image.
•
Select Process Payment to submit the item/batch for processing.

Appendix A: Additional Device Control
Features
Device Control Indicators
The Device Control can be in any one of several statuses. Look to your hidden icons on the
bottom navigational bar to view the status of the Device Control. In the following figure, the
Device Control icon is yellow, indicating that it is in use.

A green icon indicates the Device Control services are available.

A black icon indicates that the Device Control services are offline.

A red icon indicates that an error has occurred with the Device Control.

3. Select Navigate To | Information or Navigate To | Diagnostics near the top corner of
the Device Control to see more about either the scanner settings or other information.

Changing a Scanner
To select a different scanner with the Device Control, follow the steps below.
1. From the Device Control Information window, select Service | Stop.

2. Select Device | Chooser.

3. The Choose a Device Manufacturer window displays. Select a manufacturer for the
scanner you wish to utilize. You may also opt to select a particular model.

4. If the scanner and model you selected has not yet been installed, the system will display
an indicator, Not Installed! You have the option of installing this scanner if applicable.

Uninstalling a Scanner
If you need to uninstall a scanner once you have Device Control installed, use the following
steps.
1. In the Device Control window under the Choose a Device Manufacturer heading,
select the Uninstall option.

2. The Add/Remove Devices page displays. Choose the scanner to uninstall, and select
Uninstall.

3. The Uninstall Wizard initiates. Complete the instructions, and select Next to continue.

5. The uninstallation process will complete. Select Next to continue.
