The Cisco® DTA50 Digital Transport Adapter (DTA50) changes digital signals into signals
you can view on an analog cable-ready TV. With the DTA50, you can continue viewing
your favorite cable shows without having to buy a new digital TV. Use the instructions in
this guide to install the DTA50.
Before using this adapter read the IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS section of
this guide.
If the adapter does not perform as expected, the following tips may help.
• Verify the current TV program is broadcast in color.
The consumer support website provides news and information about this product. For more
information, please refer to: http://www.cisco.com/web/consumer/support/index.html

Mounting the DTA50 to a TV
Connecting an IR Extender to the DTA50
In addition to your DTA50, the package you purchased from your service provider contains
two additional items: two hook-and-loop mounting squares and an IR Extender.
1. Remove one of the two hook-and-loop mounting squares from the carton in which your
DTA50 unit was shipped.
The IR Extender packaged with your DTA50 allows you to install your DTA50 in an
unobtrusive location, such as a cabinet, and control your DTA50 with a remote control.
The mounting squares allow you to attach the DTA50 unit to a television. The IR Extender
allows you to place your DTA50 in an unobtrusive location, such as a cabinet, and control
your DTA50 with a remote control.
Note: Mounting the DTA50 to your television may be easier if the loop tape remains
attached to the hook fastener.
Please read and follow the detailed instructions in the IR Extender Quick Reference
Guide to learn how to install your IR Extender. The IR Extender Quick Reference Guide is
packaged with the IR Extender.
