Arani game
development
Subject:
To make a game about the start
of the colonization period
in Brazil. The game will use
characters
like
indians,
planters, african slaves and
beings from the brazilian
folklore, like Curupira and Saci.
The game will work as a learning
tool for the developer, in
order to learn more about
modeling,
concept,
digital
painting,
anatomy,
etc.
The first version of the game
will be plataformer, with
puzzle levels - push buttons,
munch strings, jump, fight
NPC’s, and other tipical
issues from puzzle games.
In the future, there will
be PVP online, cooperative,
a system where you can buy
itens, equip the character,
customize it, and a chat system.

HISTORY:
Choosen tribe for the main
character: Tupinambás
Caoby
One of the most important
indian groups were the
tupinambás,
of
tupi
language, which lived on
the coast, from Bahia to
Rio de Janeiro, and later
migrated to the north.
The war was their main
activity, it was exercised
constantly against other
indian
groups,
and,
later on, against the
portuguese
people.
They
praticed canibalism as a
ritual, because they believed
that, if they eat the meat of
a brave warrior, they would
acquire
their
qualities.
As
the
Tupinambá
were
extinguished, they merged
with the Guarani, founding
the tupi-gurani.
The main
character, was named after the
language of this last tribe.
Caoby was one of the last survivors
from his tribe, which was destroyed in
fights against the portuguese colonizers.
with the shortage of african
slaves, natives began to be enslaved. One
of those was Caoby, enslaved in his youth.
Caoby, already changed by having his
tribe decimated, now nurtures a hatred based
in his slavery. Traiined since child to be a
Tupinambá warrior, he now suffers rebukes and
attempts the domestication of his savage side.
After a while living by the side of the
african slaves and learning their culture, he
starts to learn capoeira, a fighting style that
has the purpose of granting protection from
settlers, disguised as a dance and, therefore,
allowing the slaves to practice; It is violent
and it is based in kicks of strong impact with
a strong development of the peripheral vision.
With his knowledge and showing
great
destructive
capacity,
Caoby
decides that’s the moment of his revenge.

Script:
Developing the
tutorial’s
levels
In the tutorial, the player needs to learn
how to use the arrow keys to move, the
CTRL key to attack and SPACE to jump. In
order to accomplish this, the master that
teached capoeira to Caoby will apply a last
test in his student, so Caoby can start
his breakout and also be called a master.
The three tutorial levels are in the mill
and have a puzzling aspect. The third one
is a combat between Caoby and his master.
