DVXi – Digital KVM Extension
with no loss in image quality
Use DVXi/ET to remotely locate you monitor,
keyboard and mouse up to 10 km from the
CPU. Digital extension technology ensures
perfect image quality no matter how far you
extend!
Why does it make sense to remotely locate a
CPU?
•
Protection computers against dust, water
and vibration.
•
Avoid theft and protect against
unauthorized installation of software.
•
Simplify maintenance, configuration and
administration of multiple users
computers by co-locating them
•
Save costs by installing air conditioning
and high-speed networking equipment in
a central server room
•
Cut out noise in the work place
DVXi Applications
•
Financial (remote users and server
control)
•
Call Centers (co-locate users
computers))
•
Industrial (protection against pollution)
•
Information Terminals & Kiosks
•
Airports (air traffic control, passenger
information systems)
•
KVM extension where exceptional image
quality is required
Perhaps you have a safety critical application,
where the user is not allowed to access to the
CPU directly.

DVXi/ET – The Future of KVM
Extension
As flat panel displays are more and more
common the use of DVI interfaces becomes
even more important to gain the optimum in
video transmission. DVXi/ET supports DVI
extensions at highest resolutions of up to
1920x1200 to ensure the benefits of using
DVI, even if your monitor is located up to 10
km away.
DVI, USB and more
DVXi extender support DVI graphic interfaces
(DVI-D) and, depending on the device type
either PS2 keyboard/mouse or USB keyboard
/mouse (HID – Human Interface Device –
such as touch screens, tableaus and other
pointing or input devices).
Using a highly effective compression
algorithm, the maximum data rate of a fiber
transmission can be used optimally. Even at
highest resolutions of 1920x1200, you will get
a comfortable working and a smooth picture
movement in videos. Comparing to other
devices, the maximum transfer distance does
not depend on the monitor resolution. Even at
the highest resolution of 1920x1200 you can
easily bridge 10 km.
The compact design allows close installation a
in 19” rack cabinet. Up to 4 devices can be
mounted in a 19”/1U rack mount kit. Even for
desktop application the according mounting kit
is available.
Dual-Access for DVI-D (all models), keyboard
and mouse (PS2 models only) allows to
remotely accessing a monitor, keyboard and
mouse by directly connecting to the PC. This
way you can have two (dependent) access
points to your CPU. Or you have a remote
access to your CPU and several CPUs are
connected locally by using a console switch to
a local admin.

built in, universal switch mode p.s.u. requires
only a single power outlet.
Quad-Head devices with USB-HID require 4
CATx cables or 8 fibres (4 pairs) of fibre
cable. Quad-Head devices with USB-2.0
transparent require 5 CATx cables or 10 fibres
(5 pairs) of fibre cable.
