Step 1: Install the door position sensors and
magnets.
1. The sensors and magnets are used to let the
Mobile GDO controller know whether the
garage door is open or closed. The positioning
of the sensors and magnets is very important
to the operation of the Mobile GDO. The
sensors and their related magnets must be
aligned when the garage door is fully open or
closed. To determine where the sensors and
magnets should be located you need to know
the direction the garage door drive chain or
belt travels to ensure the magnets do not get
caught in the door opener sprockets or pulleys
(see Illustration 1). An easy way to do this is to
temporarily place a piece of tape on the chain
or belt where you think the magnets should be
mounted, then activate the opener to
determine the direction of travel.
Open the box and verify the contents.

2. Two sensors and two magnets
3. Wire kit containing five feet (152 cm.) each of
yellow, orange, and blue wire
4. Accessory kit including an assortment of blue
(used to secure wires) and black (used to
secure sensors and magnets) zip ties, wire
anchors with two sided tape, and a small
screwdriver
5. Mobile GDO power adapter

2. Mark one of the sensors and one of the
magnets with a C (closed) and the other two
with an O (open). The closed door sensor and
magnet are to be installed on the side of the
garage door opener rail channel on which the
chain or belt moves away from the garage
door opener when the garage door is opened
(see illustration 1). With the garage door
closed determine the best placement for the
closed door sensor and magnet. They should
be positioned as close to the garage door
opener as possible without interfering with the
drive mechanism (no more than two and onehalf feet (76 cm.) from the Mobile GDO
controller or you will need more wire than is
supplied in the kit).
3. Attach the magnet marked C to the chain or
belt using the black zip ties. Depending on the
distance between the chain and the rail
channel, you may have to modify the manner
in which you attach it to ensure the magnet
and sensor are properly aligned without
touching each other. Ensure you clean the
area where the sensor will be attached. The

Overview
The installation of the Mobile GDO hardware
should be able to be completed by the average
do-it-yourself handyman using these instructions
and the video tutorials at www.TekDevices.com.
If these instructions and the video tutorials are not
clear to you, consider having it professionally
installed.

distance between the sensor and the magnet
should not be greater than three-fourths of an
inch (two cm). Remove the top covering from
the two-sided tape on the closed door sensor
and carefully position and attach it to the rail
channel, ensuring it is aligned with the magnet
(see Illustration 1). Please note that prior to
installing the sensor you may want to connect
the orange electrical wires to it (see Step 3).
4. Open the garage door and install the remaining
sensor and magnet (door open) on the other
side of the rail channel. Follow the instructions
as outlined for the closed door sensor and
magnet.
If you did not do so under Step 1, attach the
two yellow wires to the open sensor and the
two orange wires to the closed sensor. Loosen
the screws on the top of the sensors and insert
the stripped end of the wires into the side of
the sensors. Tighten the screws. Route the
four wires between the sensors and the Mobile
GDO controller using the wire anchors and
blue zip ties provided. If the wires are too long,
cut and strip them to the appropriate length.
Insert the two orange wires into the two round
input connectors on the Mobile GDO controller
which are directly below the word Closed.
Similarly connect the two yellow wires to the
two round input connectors directly below the
word Open. It is very important that the wiring
is properly secured by use of the zip ties and
anchors, and that its routing maintains a proper
distance from all moving parts.
2. Connect the Mobile GDO unit to the garage
door opener by inserting the two blue wires
into the controller and then attaching the other
ends to the garage door opener. This
connection will allow the Mobile GDO to tell the
garage door opener when to open and when to
close the door. The two blue wires should be
connected to the same connectors on the
garage door opener that the garage door
opener button in your garage is attached to
(see images at the end of this document).
Securely fasten all wires ensuring they do not
interfere with any moving parts using the wire
anchors and zip ties provided in the kit.
Step 2: Install the Mobile GDO
Determine where you will mount the Mobile GDO
controller taking into account the location of your
garage door opener, the sensors, and your power
outlet. The wire provided will allow you to position
the Mobile GDO up to two and one-half feet (76
cm.) from the sensors and your garage door
opener. Typically you will attach the Mobile GDO
controller to the metal support structure which
attaches your garage door opener to the ceiling of
your garage. You may want to connect the four
sensor wires (two yellow and two orange) and the
two garage door opener wires (blue) to the Mobile
GDO controller before you mount it. Attach the
Mobile GDO controller to the support structure
with the blue zip ties provided. It is preferable, but
not required, to mount the Mobile GDO with the
top of the controller facing down towards the floor
of the garage. This will result in the best possible
WiFi reception and will make it easy to see the
flashing lights on the Mobile GDO. The speed,
frequency, and order of the flashing lights will help
you troubleshoot any problems should they arise.
See the diagram on the Mobile GDO controller.
Step 4: Install Mobile GDO Power Adapter
Install the power adapter by connecting it to the
Mobile GDO and plugging it into your household
110 volt power supply. Secure the power supply
wires with the provided wire ties so that they do
not interfere with any moving parts.
Step 3: Wire the electrical connections (see
wiring diagram)
Note: This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a
Class B digital device, pursuant to part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are
designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a
residential installation. This equipment generates uses and can radiate radio
frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instructions,
may cause harmful interference to radio communications.
However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular
installation.
1. Connect the open and closed sensors to the
Mobile GDO controller with the two yellow, and
orange wires provided. Since two wires run
from each sensor, you will likely cut each
colored wire in half. Use a wire-stripper to
remove one-quarter of an inch (6 mm.) of
insulation from both ends of each of the wires.
