SERIES DESCRIPTION
This operating guide describes a family of International Fiber Systems, Inc. (IFS) fiber optic modems.
Not all modems have all of the features in this guide.
The VT/VR1505 series is designed to transmit and receive video from a Closed Circuit Television
(CCTV) camera as well as a return data signal for PTZ (pan, tilt, zoom) camera control. The video receiver contains automatic gain control (AGC) circuitry which eliminates the need for any video adjustment by automatically maximizing contrast. This series is composed of multimode fiber optic interfaces that are compatible with only “Up-the-Coax.” style (video and PTZ via a coaxial cable) video systems.

(b) –R3 Modules:
All “-R3” models receive power from the back plane of the R3 rack. Insert the “-R3” unit into any available R3 rack slot such that the female 3-pin connector on the back of the module engages the companion male connector of the back plane. The red power LED will glow when voltage is applied to the unit.
CAMERA / RECEIVER-DRIVER CONNECTION
Attach a 75 ohm coaxial cable (terminated with BNC connectors) from the camera/receiver-driver’s BNC connector to the "VIDEO IN" BNC connector on the VT1505 series module.
CONTROLLER CONNECTION
Attach a 75 ohm coaxial cable (terminated with BNC connectors) from the controller’s “Video In” BNC connector to the "VIDEO OUT" BNC connector on the VR1505 series module.
FIBER OPTIC CONNECTION
Select a quality fiber optic cable containing either 50/125 or 62.5/125 fiber and attach a ST style fiber optic connector using the connector manufacturer's recommended procedures. Connect the fiber optic cable to the ST connector marked "OPTICAL OUT" on the VT1505 series module to the ST connector marked
“OPTICAL IN” on the VR1505 series module. In a similar fashion, connect the fiber optic cable to the ST connector marked and "OPTICAL IN" on the VT1505 series module to the ST connector marked “OPTICAL
OUT” on the VR1505 series module.
NOTE: When using a “WDM” fiber optic module (single fiber unit), connect the fiber optic cable to the ST connectors marked “OPTICAL CABLE.” on the VT and VR modules

MOUNTING STAND-ALONE UNITS
Hold the VT1505 or VR1505 series module against the mounting surface and mark the locations of the keyhole slots on the rear mounting brackets. Install mounting screws into keyhole marks, allowing leeway under the screw heads for the box to be mounted. Mount the brackets over the screws, slide, and tighten.
VIDEO LINK OPERATION
Make sure that power is applied to the VT1505 and VR1505 series modules, camera, and video monitor.
Ensure that the camera and monitor are turned on, and that any lens cover on the camera has been removed.
Verify that coaxial cables and fiber optic cable are properly connected (i.e., the same fiber connects to the video input and output on transmitter and receiver). Successful link operation should be visible at this point as witnessed by a good quality video picture on the monitor.
