HOW TO REGISTER FOR A WIFI ACCOUNT
Step 1. Determine the MAC Address of your WiFi card. If you're a Mac user, you need to know the Airport
Address of your Airport card.
For Windows XP (make sure WiFi is on):
Click Start -> Run
Type cmd and click OK
At the command prompt window, type ipconfig /all
Look for the entry which says Ethernet adapter Wireless Network Connection. It should look like this:
Ethernet adapter Wireless Network Connection:
Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
Description . . . . . . . . . . . : Intel<R> PRO/Wireless 2200BG Network Connection
Dhcp Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . :
Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 01-23-45-67-8A-BC
IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . :
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . :
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . :
DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . :
In this case, the MAC or Physical Address is 01-23-45-67-8A-BC.
For Windows Vista:
Click Start
In the “Start Search Field” type cmd
At the command prompt window, type ipconfig /all
Look for the entry which says Wireless LAN adapter Wireless Network Connection and take note of the
line that says "Physical Address". This is your WiFi card's MAC address.
For Mac OSX:
Go to System Preferences
Go to Internet & Network, click the Network icon
In the Show field, select AirPort
Look for the Airport Address entry
Step 2. Using a computer inside the campus go to this URL: http://cng.ateneo.net/wlansignup.html. These
are the entries you need to fill up:
email address
ID number
Last Name
First Name
Middle Initial
MAC Address (or Airport Address in the case of OSX users)
For Windows XP or Vista users, make sure you type in the correct MAC Address. Go back to Step 1 just to be
sure. Otherwise, you will not be able to access the WiFi network.
Note: If you register the wrong email address (i.e. myemail@yahoo instead of myemail@yahoo.com) you will
have to wait for three days before you can register again.
Step 3. After you have completed Step 2, you will receive an email containing a link needed to activate your
account. The link is accessible only inside the Ateneo campus. I repeat, the link is accessible only inside
the Ateneo campus. Likewise, it is valid for only three days. If you fail to activate you account within three
days, you will have to register again. Once you click this link, your WiFi account will be activated within two
hours.
