Conformity DIN EN 12470-3, Medical Thermometers part 3: Compact electrical thermometers with maximum device Geratherm® is certified in
accordance with Council Directive 93/42/EWG and EN ISO 13485 and is entitled to affix the CE-mark

ensures that the LCD window is in good function.
Press down the control button to start the thermometer. Then, a full display

signals normal operation after internal safe testing. Otherwise,
alerts its malfunction.
Then, the ambient temperature or
displays on window with ºC blinking. The thermometer is now ready for a temperature taking. If there is no temperature taking in the coming
3 minutes, the thermometer will be automatically shut-off.
Clean or disinfect the probe before every measurement. Put the probe head under the tongue, under the arm or in the rectum; according to the methods provided (see Methods of Use).
As soon as the thermometer does not register any further relevant increase in temperature, °C stops flashing and the maximum value measured up to that time is shown, accompanied by a series of audible signals.
The thermometer continues measuring the temperature for a further minute after the audible signals begin, and in this time there may possibly be a further slight increase in the
temperature shown. After that, the maximum temperature measured is recorded and stored; it remains visible on the LCD display for 8 minutes until the thermometer is automatically
switched off.
When the measured temperature is above or below Measuring range, the LCD window displays
or
.
HOW TO RECALL THE LAST TEMPERATURE
If you hold down the button for more than 3 seconds when switching on, the last temperature will be recalled on the LCD window. At the same time, a small „M“ for memory appears.
After 3 more seconds, this value and the „M“ disappear and the thermometer is in normal measurement mode.
METHODS OF USE
It is only is possible to measure temperatures that are above the ambient temperature.
Axillary Measurement (approximately 60 – 120 seconds)
Dry the armpit with a towel. Place the probe head under the armpit. Close the arm firmly.
In general, the axillary temperature is around 0.5 °C to 1.0 °C lower than oral temperature. Note that in order to achieve better axillary temperature measurement result, a minimum
measuring time of 3 to 5 minutes is recommended regardless of the beep sound.
Oral Measurement (approximately 45 – 90 seconds)
Place the probe head under the tongue. Assure a fixed and good contact. Close the mouth and breathe normally.
A normal temperature by this method is usually considered between 36. 0 °C and 37.5 °C.
Rectal Measurement (approximately 30 – 60 seconds)
Lubricate the probe head with Vaseline for an easier insertion. Then, softly enforce the probe head into the rectum approximately 2 to 3 cm in depth.
In general, the rectal temperature is around 0.5 °C to 1.0 °C higher than oral temperature.
If you compare temperatures between two thermometers, it is possible to have two different readings even if both thermometers are within their accuracy tolerances. Differences in
how you take each reading and the thermometer‘s tolerance range can account for nearly 0.1 °C variability.
RECOMMENDATION: Determine your normal temperature and watch for changes.
HOW TO REPLACE THE BATTERY
When the battery flag

appears and blinks, it means time to replace the battery. In this case,
Turn the thermometer over, with the label side facing to the user. Pull out the cover as the following illustration.
Remove the used battery by any pointed object but not sharp metal.
Withdraw the battery.
Insert a new 1.5 V button battery with the cathode side (-) up.
Close the cover securely.
Warning: Do not dispose the battery in normal domestic waste! Out of reach of young children.
Do not dispose of the battery in a fire. It may explode.

Child’s temperature shall be taken under adult’s surveillance.
Keep out of the reach of unsupervised children. Choking resulting from a child swallowing a small part that has become detached from the thermometer.
Do not boil, bite, bend, drop or disassemble this thermometer.
Do not attempt to disassemble the unit except to replace the battery.
Avoid taking temperature in 30 minutes after physical exercises, bathing or dining.
Do not store, use and transport the unit under direct sunlight, at a high temperature, or in high humidity or dust. Performance may be degraded.
The possibility of allergic reactions and / or skin irritation cannot be excluded completely.
If the thermometer has been stored at below-freezing temperatures, allow the thermometer to warm naturally to room temperature before using.
DISPOSAL
Observe the applicable regulations when disposing of the thermometer and batteries. This thermometer must not be disposed of together with domestic waste. All users are
obliged to hand in all electrical or electronic devices, regardless of whether or not they contain toxic substances, at a municipal or commercial collection point so that they can
be disposed of in an environmentally acceptable manner. Please remove the batteries before disposing of the thermometer. Do not dispose of old batteries with your household
waste, but at a battery collection station at a recycling site or in a shop.
