Minimum Bandwidth Requirements



"High Bandwidth" rich media player with video streaming is approximately 300kbps
"High Bandwidth" rich media player with audio streaming is approximately 112kbps
"Low Bandwidth" rich media player is approximately 56kbps
Question to ask regarding Bandwidth:


Are you on a dial-up, DSL, Cable connection or other?
o If dial-up, try selecting the Dial in Configuration.
o If another type of connection, then refer to the next question.
Are you connected wirelessly to the Internet?
o If yes, first try the Low Speed Connection.
o If still not working, try to connect directly to your wireless router.
 Locate a network cableconnect to your PCConnect other end to an empty port on the back of your router
o Still having issues, then follow the same procedure as above, but connect directly to your Internet modem.
Podcast Playback Requirements
EchoSystem produces three different types of "podcast" formats for student review. Below are the playback requirements for each format:



Podcast Audio (MP3) - typically downloaded by students through CMS/LMS/VLE via RSS feeds provided by ESS or iTunes U. Playable on any MP3
player.
Enhanced Podcast (M4B) - typically downloaded by students through CMS/LMS/VLE via RSS feeds provided by ESS or iTunes U. Playable on a
computer using QuickTime and Windows Media Player. Portable playback on iPod or Zune.
Vodcast (M4V) - typically downloaded by students through CMS/LMS/VLE or via RSS feeds provided by ESS or iTunes U. Playable on a computer using
QuickTime and Windows Media Player. Portable playback on iPod or Zune.
Student View and Quick Reference
1. The first screen you may see, when you open your Echo360 link, may appear as below. You may either:
a. keep the default settings and select Launch Playback
b. change the Configuration and Theme and LayoutThen select Launch Playback
c. Special Note: The default settings assume a high speed Internet. If you are on a Dial up service please select the
appropriate Configuration.
