Upgrading the router firmware
From version 2.0.20.3 of the NTC-140W series firmware, the process of upgrading the router firmware has been simplified
compared to previous versions. The main, recovery and u-boot images are now packaged in a single file. The firmware upgrade file
includes a script which performs checks to determine which components require updating and performs all the updates
automatically. This firmware upgrade guide applies to both the NTC-140W-01 and NTC-140W-02 and uses version 2.0.20.3 for the
purpose of demonstration, however, the same steps may be used for future firmware releases.
IMPORTANT NOTES:



In order to perform a firmware update, you must be logged into the router with the root manager account. Refer to the
“Advanced configuration” section of the User Guide for details.
Do not change the file extension of the router firmware files as this can cause the firmware upgrade process to fail.
Make a backup of your current router configuration before performing the firmware upgrade.
To update the NTC-140W Series router’s firmware:
1.
Connect one end of the RJ45 (Ethernet cable) to the LAN port of the NTC-140W Series Router and the other end to the
Ethernet port of your computer.
2.
Connect your power source (not included in the package) to the Molex connector of the NTC-140W Series Router and
plug it into an available wall socket. Wait approximately 1 minute for the router to start up.
3.
Extract the firmware image (.cdi) from the zip archive to a location on your computer.
4.
Open a web browser and navigate to http://192.168.1.1 or http://my.router/
5.
In the Username field, enter root and in the Password field, enter admin then click the Log in button.
6.
Select the System item from the top menu bar, select the System configuration item from the menu on the left and then
select the Upload menu item.
7.
Under the File uploads section, click the Choose a file button. Locate the firmware file on your computer (for example,
ntc_140wx_2.0.20.3.cdi) and click Open.
8.

pop-up window. The recovery image is updated and when it is complete the router displays “The firmware update was
successful” and then returns to the list of uploaded files.
Note: Do not remove the power when the router’s LEDs are flashing as this is when the firmware update is in process.
10. Log in to the router once more and navigate to the Status page. Confirm that the Firmware version field shows the

Upgrading the module firmware
We recommend using the most appropriate module firmware version for your chosen carrier. You can determine the module
firmware by examining the PRI field on the router’s status page. If the PRI does not match the approved version for your carrier
listed in the table below, follow this guide to update the module firmware.
All versions of the module firmware are provided in the firmware .zip file.
