This is a user guide for the Qwizdom Document Camera. This guide provides information
and tips on using the Qwizdom Document Camera.

Handling Precautions
Please read this manual carefully before operating the document camera and keep it for
reference.
PRECAUTIONS
NOTICES: PLEASE READ CAREFULLY BEFORE USE
· Use the document camera under the rated electric conditions.
· Do not place the document camera on any unstable surface. It may fall, causing
injury or damage.
· Do not place this device in direct sunlight or near heaters.
· Do not place this device near water.
· Keep the camera away from acids or alkalis.
· Do not place this document camera in humid, dusty, windy, or vibrant locations.
· The recommended operating environment is:
Temperature: 0°C - 45°C (32°F -113°F)
Humidity: less than 75%
· Always unplug BEFORE cleaning the device. Use a damp soft-cloth for cleaning.

If this equipment functions abnormally, such as smoke, smell, or noise,
immediately unplug and call for professional assistance.

Software Installation
2.1
Installing the Document Camera Software
The Qwizdom Video Capture Program allows you to record in .AVI format and with
annotations directly over the video feed, but not full-screen. A site license of the Qwizdom
Video Capture Program is included with your document camera.
Installing Qwizdom Video Capture Program from CD
1.
Insert the Qwizdom Video Capture Program disc into the CD-ROM drive. Click
Document Camera Install.

The Welcome to the Qwizdom Video Capture Setup Wizard will appear. Click Next.

Installing Qwizdom WizTeach
The Qwizdom WizTeach software allows you access to a complete set of tools that can be
used with any application and your document camera purchase includes a single user
license. It allows you to record in flash video formats, complete with full-screen
annotations.

Installing Qwizdom WizTeach from CD
1.
Insert the Qwizdom WizTeach disc into the CD-ROM drive. Click WizTeach Install.

The Select Setup Language prompt appears. Select the installation language and
click OK to continue.

Click Next in the Welcome to the Qwizdom WizTeach Setup Wizard.

Read the License Agreement and select I accept the agreement. Click Next.

Light
The document camera is an environmentally friendly, RoHS compliant product, which
means it meets the European Union's rigorous requirements for restriction of the use of
certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment. The light on the
document camera adopts eco-friendly, low power consumption and long lasting LED
lamps, which stay cool to the touch and are mercury-free.
Zoom In and Zoom Out
With 9x optical zoom combined with 8x digital zoom, the document camera enables you
to view the finest details of any objects that are impossible to see with the naked eye. The
document camera's advanced optical system features high speed autofocus capability that
ensures instant autofocus when you quickly zoom in and out of any object. You can also
manually adjust the zoom by pressing ZOOM +or ZOOM -.

Focus Adjustment
When the document camera is turned on, the focus automatically adjusts to the image. It is
not necessary to readjust the focus if you are only working with flat materials (text, photos,
etc.). 3-D objects may require a focus adjustment. Press the AUTO button to autofocus or
press the FOCUS+ or FOCUS- button to focus manually.
Brightness Adjustment
Use the BRIGHT + or BRIGHT - button to adjust the brightness. To increase the brightness,
press the BRIGHT + button. To decrease it, press the BRIGHT - button.
White Balance Adjustment
Each time the lighting condition changes, the user should adjust the white balance of the
CMOS. Press the AUTO button to adjust the white balance automatically.
Text/Picture Mode
The text enhancement feature provides the option to improve the readability of the text by
improving the contrast of the text image by pressing the T/P button.
Image Freeze
The freeze function allows you to discreetly prepare the next image without interrupting
the current presentation. Use FREEZE to freeze and unfreeze the image.
Image Mirror
The mirror function gives you a different perspective of an object.
Split Screen
The split screen offers the capability of comparing two images or comparing two different
views of one object side-by-side.
Image Save
The document camera offers the option of storing 12 images on board. You can recall
them by just pressing one of the numerical buttons on the front panel or remote control.
Image Recall
Pressing the Recall button will display all the saved images in thumbnail index mode for
easy selection.

Multiple Inputs and Outputs
The VGA and USB connections allow a computer to be connected and the computer signal
to be input. The document camera also has C-Video and S-Video connectors, which can
output the document camera image. The output can be determined by the color of the
power light as follows:
Yellow= S-Video (projector should be set to S-Video input)
Red = Direct image from document camera
Blue = VGA image from PC
White = Standby mode
USB 2.0 Port
The USB port can be used to store still images from the document camera on a computer,
or to record live video from the document camera. No additional computer hardware is
required. The document camera can, in effect, be used as a 3-D scanner for your computer.
Connect the document camera to your computer with the supplied USB cable. The
document camera software is available on the supplied CD-ROM.
USB Image Capture and Video Recording
The document camera is equipped with a USB 2.0 image capture and video recording
system. Simply connect the document camera to a computer, with the software provided,
and you can easily preview, capture, and save images and video on your PC.
RS232 Control
The RS232 terminal allows you to integrate the document camera into any central control
system, like in a lecture hall. RS232 also enables you to control the document camera via
computer.

Save: captures the image in display
Recall: enable image recall mode, display the saved images
Lamp: toggles arm light, back light, and no light
Split: splits screen, enable the comparison between the frozen image and live
image
Page down: saved image pages down when image recall mode is enabled
Mirror: outputs right-and-left, up-and-down mirror image
Freeze: freezes/unfreeze the image
T/P: switches the output image between text mode and picture mode

Video Capture Features
If you start the Qwizdom Video Capture program without a camera attached, you will see
the following:

program.

Recording Settings
Click the Recording Settings
button.
· Aspect Ratio: selects how you want the image to appear. Choose either Box,
Pan/Scan or Stretch
· Video Device: chooses the live video feed from any attached video device
· Video Compression: selects the video format of anything you record (see below)
· Full Screen: views the live video feed in full screen
Screen Captures
Click the
to capture a screenshot of the live image from the document camera. You
can select to save the image as a .JPG or .BMP.
Recording Video
The Record Video
button records the live feed from the document camera. The
recording will save as an .AVI using the video codecs already installed on your computer
(we do not install any).

Click the Image Settings
button to change the image settings.
Rotate
Click the Rotate
button to rotate the image 90 degrees clockwise. Every time you click
the Rotate
button, the image will rotate 90 degrees clockwise until the image is back
into its original position.

Recording
6.1
Recording with WizTeach
Using Qwizdom WizTeach to save your videos in the .flv format will enable both Mac and
Windows users to playback the captured movie files without having to use a conversion
tool.

Recording

Video Device: displays a live video feed from an external source such as a
document camera or video camera. A new window will appear displaying the video input
feed.
Screen Capture: saves a snapshot image of your screen. You can choose to
capture an image of a specified area or the full screen. When you have selected your Image
Area or clicked Full Screen Image, you will be asked where to save your picture. Saved
images are available for quick viewing in the Archives.
Record: records onscreen activities. When you want to start recording, click the
Record button. Click Stop to end the recording and you will be asked where to save your
recording. Saved recordings are available for playback in the Archives.
Archives: keeps archives of previously recorded videos and images. Click the
Launch button to open the video or image to view.

Make sure the document camera is properly connected.
Turn on the document camera.
Launch WizTeach.
Click Menu.
Select Standard Tools.
Select Capture Tools.
Click Video Device. You will see the live feed projected from the document camera.
Click Record to begin recording the live feed.
Click Stop when you are done recording. The Save As window will appear.
Select a location in which to save the recording.
Enter the name with which you want the recording to be saved. You can choose
to save the recording as a .qwv (Qwizdom WizTeach file) or .flv (Flash video) file
type.
12. Click Save when done. The movie will save in the selected location and also appear
in the Archives window.

Make sure the document camera is properly connected.
Turn the document camera on.
Launch Qwizdom Video Capture.
Click Settings.
Select Video Compression.
Select one of the video codecs that is available on your computer (will vary
computer to computer).
Click Start Recording.
Click Stop Recording when finished. The Save As window appears.
Select a location in which to save the recording.
Enter the name with which you want the recording to be saved. You can choose to
save the recording as an .AVI file type.
Click Save when done. The movie will save in the selected location.

The object is too close to the lens.
Focus is on the top point of zoom: press the Zoom
- button.
Autofocus is not on: press the Auto button again.
Fog on the lens in damp climate: this will
disappear gradually when the equipment warms
up.
If the problem still remains after checking the above, contact Technical Support.
