Focus on the subject.
Aim the viewfinder center over the subject and press the shutter button halfway to autofocus.
Take the picture.
Press the shutter button completely to take the picture.
Review the picture.
The captured image will be displayed for 2 sec. on the
LCD monitor.
o The J on the right of the function indicates that the function is available only in Creative Zone modes.

Using the Built-in Flash
Basic Zone Modes
If necessary, the built-in flash will be automatically raised and fired in low-light or backlit conditions (with certain shooting modes).
Creative Zone Modes o Press the <D> button to raise the built-in flash, then shoot.

You can change the camera settings as desired to shoot in various ways.
* Set the <R> switch (Multi function lock released) to the left.

: Program AE
o Set the Mode Dial to <d>.
o The camera automatically sets the shutter speed and aperture in the same way as the <A> mode.

: Shutter-priority AE
o Set the Mode Dial to <s>.
o Turn the <6> dial to set the desired shutter speed, then focus on the subject.
X The aperture will be set automatically.
o If the aperture display blinks, turn the <6> dial until it stops blinking.
f
: Aperture-priority AE
o Set the Mode Dial to <f>.
o Turn the <6> dial to set the desired aperture, then focus on the subject.
X The shutter speed will be set automatically.
o If the shutter speed display blinks, turn the <6> dial until it stops blinking.

Drive Mode
o Press the <g> button, turn the <6> or <5> dial.
o When “A” is selected, the ISO speed is set automatically.
When you press the shutter button halfway, the ISO speed setting is displayed.

o Look through the viewfinder and press the <B> button.
X Each time you press the <B> button, the AF area selection mode changes.

Live View Shooting
o Press the <A> button to display the Live View image.
o Press the shutter button halfway to focus, then press it completely to take the picture.

Built-in microphones o When the shooting mode is <a>, you can shoot movies with manual exposure.
o You can set movie shooting settings with the menu options under the [Z 1] or [Z2] tab.
