Updating to TireMaster 8.9.0
TireMaster 8.9.0 is now available. This document describes how to update TireMaster servers and
workstations. If you need assistance during the update process, log a support call in AtTask at http://
asatire.attask-ondemand.com or call TireMaster Support at 800-891-7437.
Updating the TireMaster Server
To update to TireMaster 8.9.0, you need an installer. To locate the installer, do one of the following:

Access the automatically-deployed installer from the apps shared directory on your TireMaster server.

Download the installer from the TireMaster Support site.
After you locate an installer and finish updating the server, you can update each workstation.
Update Requirements
To update to TireMaster 8.9.0, you need to be running TireMaster 8.0.0 or newer and your operating
system must be Microsoft® Windows® 7 Professional or newer. TireMaster 8.9.0 cannot be installed on
home editions of the Windows operating system or Windows XP.
Accessing an Automatically-Deployed Installer
If your TireMaster system is set up to download automatically-deployed installers as part of the nightly
backup process, the TireMaster 8.9.0 installer is already available to you. Typically, installers are placed in
one of the following locations:

c:\TireMaster\apps

d:\TireMaster\apps

c:\QDSTM\apps

d:\QDSTM\apps
Note:
If your installers are downloaded to a different location, navigate to that folder instead.
To access automatically-deployed installers
1. On the desktop of your TireMaster server, double-click My Computer. The My Computer screen
appears.
2. Double-click the letter or icon for the drive that TireMaster is installed in. (Usually, it’s the c: or d:
drive.)

3. Double-click the TireMaster program folder.
4. Double-click the Apps folder, and locate the file qdstm08000000-08090000.exe.
Once you have located the installer, you can update the server. For instructions, see “Completing the
Server Update” on page 2
Downloading the TireMaster Installer
Download the installer and save it on your TireMaster server. Before you can download the installer, you
need to log on to the TireMaster Support Site with your TireMaster customer number and password. If you
no longer have your number and password, log a call in AtTask at http://asatire.attask-ondemand.com or
call TireMaster Support at 800-891-7437.
To download the TireMaster Installer
1. Close all applications.
2. Turn off all other workstations.
3. Log on to http://support.tiremaster.com.
4. Type your customer number and password, and click Login. The Support Site home page appears.
5. Click Download Programs on the menu. The Download Center page appears.
6. In the Update Files area, click the link TireMaster 8.0.0 to 8.9.0. You’ll be prompted to save the file
and possibly run the installation, depending on your browser.
7. Save the installer on your computer.
Note:
Downloading the installer might take several minutes, depending on the speed of your
Internet connection.
8. Click Close.
9. Exit the TireMaster Support Site.
Once you have finished downloading the installer, you can update the server. For instructions, see
“Completing the Server Update” on page 2.
Completing the Server Update
Once you’ve located the TireMaster installer in the apps directory or downloaded it from the TireMaster
Support site, you can finish updating the server.
Note:
The installer is needed for updating the server only.
To update the server
1. Back up your TireMaster data.
2. Close all applications on the server, including those in the Windows® System Tray (such as antivirus
programs).
3. Turn off all workstations.
4. Do one of the following:
a. Go to the TireMaster or qdstm program folder’s apps directory. For more information, see
“Accessing an Automatically-Deployed Installer” on page 1.

b. Go to the directory where you saved the installer that you downloaded from the TireMaster Support
site.
5. Double-click qdstm08000000-08090000.exe. The TireMaster - Installation Program screen appears.
6. Click OK. The Search Results screen appears.
7. Select the update location for TireMaster (usually c:\qdstm, d:\qdstm, c:\tiremaster, or
d:\tiremaster), and click Update.
When the update is finished, the TireMaster - Installation Program screen appears.
8. If you want to validate the database now, click Validate.
Note:
Validation warnings are for your reference only. If the TM Data Validation screen shows
errors, you need to correct the errors and run the validation program again.
9. Make sure the View readme file check box is selected at the end of the update, and click Finish. The
ReadMe opens.
Note:
Print the ReadMe. It includes information about program changes and settings you need to
complete to use new features.
10. Register TireMaster and complete new settings as described in the ReadMe.
Note:
Restart applications that you turned off before the update, such as antivirus programs.
Once you have finished updating the server, update each workstation. For instructions, see “Updating
TireMaster Workstations” on page 3.
Updating TireMaster Workstations
Once you’ve finished updating the TireMaster server, you can update the workstations. Perform the
following steps on each workstation.
To update workstations
1. Log in to TireMaster on a workstation. The following message appears:
“This workstation needs to run one or more installations, updates, or both. Do you want to run them
now?
2. Click Yes. The TireMaster Installation Program screen appears.
3. Click OK. The Search Results screen appears.
4. Select the update location for TireMaster (usually c:\qdstm, d:\qdstm, c:\tiremaster, or
d:\tiremaster), and click Update.
When the update is finished, the TireMaster - Installation Program screen appears.
5. Click Finish.
Tip:
TireMaster
If you do not want to view the ReadMe again, clear the View readme file check box before
you click Finish.
