Worship and Concert Technical Rider
Technical Director: John Marsden, tech@bethschafer.com, 407-948-7065
It is required that the local technical contact review and confirm receipt of this Technical
Rider with the Technical Director. Technical contact or representative must be present
for Artist load-in and soundcheck.
PURPOSE
The purpose of this rider is to describe in as specific detail as possible those items and services
that the ARTIST feels are important to make this event (and the work surrounding it) as successful
as possible, benefiting the CLIENT, the ARTIST, the audience, and certainly the Jewish and
extended community as a whole. This rider is designed to help the CLIENT, or any of his/her
employees/ volunteers, organize appropriate details as the event day approaches.
The ARTIST’S desire to promote a sense of trust and goodwill. If there is a question or problem
that needs resolving, please immediately call the contact numbers on the front page of this
document in order that the issue can be quickly resolved. We are very reasonable people and just
want to make sure that you the CLIENT have the most wonderful experience possible.
WORSHIP (for up to 500 people)
Client and Artist will work together to combine Artist’s technical needs with local
worship needs. One sound system must be used for both Artist and client. Therefore, if
local sound system cannot handle the Artist’s technical requirements (inputs, monitoring,
adequate frequency response), the following guidelines for fly dates will need to be met
through a 3rd party sound reinforcement company:
1. SPEAKERS: Two (2) Mackie SRM450 or JBL Eon G2 powered speakers, or similar on
speaker stands positioned downstage on either side of the stage area.
In the event that powered speakers are unavailable from your local sound & lighting
vendor, a suitable substitution would be a pair of bi-amplified speakers with a minimum 15”
bass speaker and horn, and a stereo amplification system of at least 500 watts per side
such that the resulting system shall exhibit an even frequency response, 40Hz to 16kHz
(+/- 3dB) and be capable of 105dB (C weighted) with 5 dB of reserve measured on axis 30
feet in front of the FOH Main Speakers.
2. Two (2) powered subwoofers (Mackie, JBL or similar) of at least 500 watts positioned
beneath the main speakers in Item #1 above. This subwoofer can be connected thru a

passive or active crossover system to the other FOH speakers. Any system control
devices must be adjustable on-site by the Artist.
3. All cabling required to interface said sound system with house power and the XLR outputs
of the ARTIST’s sound board located at the downstage stage left position. All sound
equipment & cabling should be set-up and in-place prior to arrival of ARTIST. The sound
technician must be present at the arrival time of the ARTIST to ascertain system
performance. The presence of the sound technician is not required during the actual
performance.
4. Bass Rig: 200w-300w Combo amp (Ampeg, SWR, Trace Elliot or similar)
5. Keyboard: 88 Key Weighted Piano Controller (Kurzweil PC2, PC88 or similar) with heavyduty, dual-layer (for 2 keyboards), double-braced “X” stand (Ultimate or similar), full size
sustain pedal, etc.
6. Drums: Premier, DW, Yamaha Custom or similar
Drum Sizes:
22" Kick
Three Toms - 10”, 12" (mounted) & 14" (Floor) Toms
14" x 6.5" Wooden Snare
Mounting Hardware for Drums
Cymbal Hardware (stands) for 2 Crashes, 1 Splash, 1 Ride, and Hi-Hat Stand
Drum Throne
Drum Rug (5' x 7')
7. Power cabling and 120v drops with Quartet Boxes to each performer location and amplifier
location (Stage Left, Stage Right, and Center Stage - both downstage and upstage).
8. Five (5) boom style microphone stands and Five (5) heavy-duty black music stands
(Manhasset or similar)
9. COMBINING WITH LOCAL REQUIREMENTS: Artist mixer can handle an additional two (2)
mic inputs. (i.e. Rabbi/Cantor, Cantor/Guitar, Bima/Choir). If local input requirements exceed
two (2) inputs, Client must provide technical means for Artist to interface with existing (or
rented) Client sound system. In most cases, this would mean the addition of a second mixer
(analog is suitable i.e. Mackie 1604) and operator. Artist will provide a two-channel stereo mix
of Artist ensemble. Due to Artist in-ear monitoring system, Client system must provide
dedicated monitor mix channel of additional local inputs.
10. SPACE: Artist and Ensemble need to be featured together during worship. Space must be
arranged as best as sanctuary can accommodate to place Artist and ensemble together.

FOR VENUES THAT EXCEED 500 people
In addition to items 1-10 above, adequate sound reinforcement must be provided that will exhibit an
even frequency response, 40Hz to 16kHz (+/- 3dB) and be capable of 105dB (C weighted) with 5
dB of reserve measured on axis 30 feet in front of the FOH Main Speakers. In the event that
additional sound reinforcement is required, said system must be reviewed and approved by Artist
Technical Director.
