CORRUPT WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER – SOLUTION There are two ways to upgrade Windows Media Player. 1. Go to Safetycare’s home page and log into your account. This takes you to your account summary page Click on the hyperlink located under the heading ‘IMPORTANT’ called “here” shown in blue Then follow the online instructions The link for your reference is: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/mp10/default.aspx Rename the DRM folder. (See instructions below) Once Windows Media Player has re-installed and the DRM folder is renamed place the Montie DVD into computer and retry. 2. Open Windows Media Player Click on the ‘help’ option Scroll down to ‘Check For Player Upgrades’ Then follow the on screen instructions Rename the DRM folder. (See instructions below) Once Windows Media Player has re-installed and the DRM folder is renamed place the Montie DVD into computer and retry. IMPORTANT: Using option 2 does not always provide the customer with a version 9 + upgrade. There have been cases where when using this method the upgrade was to Version 8 only. The upgrade option does not appear on some early versions. Steps to renaming the DRM folder. To rename the DRM folder the following steps are to be followed. 1. Open ‘Windows Explorer’. This is opened by right clicking the mouse on the ‘Start’ button and selecting ‘explore’ from the list. 2. Go to C:\documents and settings\allusers\DRM (The DRM folder is a hidden folder and may not display at this point). a) To display this folder , in Windows Explorer click ‘tools – folder options - view options’. b) Under the folder titled ‘Hidden files and folders’ ensure the box ‘Show hidden files and folders’ is checked c) Click ‘apply’ and then ‘OK’. 3. The DRM folder can now be seen in the path C:\documents and settings\all users\DRM. (As shown below). 4. To rename this folder, click on DRM once, right click the mouse and select the ‘rename’ option. Type in the new name e.g. DRM2 5. Put the Montie DVD back into the PC and start again. IMPORTANT When the DRM folder is renamed all previous licences issued by Safetycare installed on the PC will be deleted. Once the issues with the Media Player are resolved the previous licence(s) will need to be reinstated.
