RPP2-50 Two-stage Proximity Card Reader

LED and beeper. The RPP2-50 reader is designed for
mounting directly on metal with no change in read

Description
The RPP2-50 Proximity Card Reader from APOGEE
Security Technologies boasts a slim design to match
any decor. The attractive design allows the RPP2-50
reader to be mounted indoors or out. A new
standard features on the RPP2-50 reader is potting of
all reader electronics, making this reader
weatherized.
The RPP2-50 reader accepts 5-16 volts, so that one
model can meet most voltage requirements. The 5volt capability allows existing swipe-type access
control installations to be easily upgraded to
proximity technology, simply by changing the existing
reader heads and cards. No rewiring or pulling of
new cable is necessary.
The RPP2-50 passive proximity card reader offers
high reliability, consistent read range characteristics,
and low power consumption in a single, easy-toDocument No. 149-394P25
Mounting
RPP2-50 reader is designed to be unobtrusive and to
mount directly on metal such as door frames.
Audiovisual Indication
When a proximity card is presented to the reader, the
red LED flashes green and the beeper sounds. The
multicolor LED and beeper can also be controlled by
the system.
Diagnostics
On reader power-up, an internal self-test routine
checks and verifies the setup configuration,
determines the internal or external control of the LED
and beeper, and initializes the reader operation. An
additional external loop back test allows for the
reader outputs and inputs to be verified without the
use of additional test equipment.

Indoor/Outdoor Design
The RPP2-50 reader is sealed in a rugged,
weatherized polycarbonate enclosure designed to
withstand harsh environments as well as provide
high degree of vandal resistance. This allows reliable
performance anywhere.
Easily Interfaced
The RPP2-50 readers interface with all existing
Wiegand protocol access control systems. The
readers output data in Wiegand format.
Security
Includes a tamper switch to provide electronic
notification of reader tampering. The readers
recognize over 137 billion unique codes.
