Check Driver Version
Are you having issues connecting your Interval or SpeedCoach Gold / XL to your computer using the NK docking station? If you are having issues with your docking station connecting to your Interval / SpeedCoach Gold / SpeedCoach XL to your computer, the issue is most likely driver related. Windows does not always automatically pull in the best software driver for the Prolific Serial-to-USB cable that we use and we have seen more issues recently after the release of Windows 10. NK has provided a copy of the different revisions of driver available and these can be found here (screen shot is shown below): http://www.nkhome.com/support/rowing-and-sports-support/manuals-and-downloads Check Driver Version To find out which revision of this driver is currently being used, please follow these instructions (for how to change versions, see the How to Update your Driver section below): 1) Go to your Control Panel. If you cannot locate control panel, do a search for “Control Panel” 2) In the upper right part of the Control Panel Window, change from “View by: Category” to View by Large or Small Icons: 3) Select Device Manager from the list. 4) Open up the Ports tab and locate Prolific USB-to-Serial Comm Port. Right click on it and select Properties. 5) Go to the Driver tab and ensure the Driver Provider is Prolific. Note the Driver Date as well. 6) If you are not using Windows 10 and the driver date is 2015, it is recommended to download the 2014 version of the driver from our site. How to Update your Driver 1) From our website, download the version of the driver that you would like to install and make sure you save it to a location where you can locate it again. 2) Unzip this file to the same location. 3) Double click on the PL2303_Prolific_DriverInstaller_v1.xx.0 file to install the new driver. 4) Follow the install instructions. If prompted, you may have to reboot your computer when completed. 5) Once the installation is complete, please go to the Check Driver Version section above to ensure that the driver tab shows the appropriate driver date. 6) If the driver date is the one expected, please try connecting again. If the driver date did not change, please check Manually Updating Driver section which follows. Manually Updating Driver If you tried installing a different driver but Windows keeps pulling in the same driver, please follow these steps to manually point Windows to the driver that you want. 1) Go to your Control Panel. Select Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer. You should see a list of drivers by the version and date, select the appropriate driver and select Next. 9) Once the correct driver is selected, your communication with your unit should now function correctly.
