Toshiba’s MKxx65GSX Series of 5,400 RPM hard disk
drives (HDDs) provide high-capacity and energy-efficient
solutions for a myriad of 2.5-inch applications as well as
those traditionally served by larger form factor drives. Using
a 320GB1-per-platter platform, the line spans capacity
points from 160 to 640GB1 across five different models.
Durability, mobility and power efficiency are combined
with a design approach focused on enhancing the
environmental soundness of the MKxx65GSX line by
decreasing or eliminating the use of certain toxic, hazardous
or controversial chemicals2 in the drive. In addition, power
consumption can be reduced by more than 80% with the
MKxx65GSX over like-capacity 3.5-inch hard disk drives,
making the MKxx65GSX ideal for notebook, all-in-one
and EnergyStar desktop PCs, printers, set top boxes, video
surveillance systems, external storage devices and other
computing applications.

One Gigabyte (1 GB) means 109 = 1,000,000,000 bytes using powers of 10. A computer
operating system, however, reports storage capacity using powers of 2 for the definition of
1 GB = 230 = 1,073,741,824 bytes, and therefore shows less storage capacity. Available storage
capacity will also be less if the computer includes one or more pre-installed operating systems,
