AtomoSynth Koneko Midi to CV converter
Overview

The Koneko is a MIDI-CV converter module, with which you can control any
eurorack module which has CV and gate input sockets by MIDI. This
module needs +/ -12V. And +5V power supply.
CV1 PITCH output 0 to +5 Volt range (5 octaves) it comes from a very
accurate 12 bit resolution (4096 steps) digital to analog converter DAC,
which translates the incoming midi note messages to voltage. It is used to
control the pitch of the VCO, it also responds to the pitch bend or pitch
wheel control, according to the midi standard, the pitch bend control has a
range of +/- two half steps.
GLIDE effect knob, it affects the CV1 PITCH output.
GATE output 0 or +5 Volt. It has a red LED that indicates when there is an
active gate signal.


CV2 output 0 to +5 Volt range, it comes from a 7 bit resolution (128 steps)
digital to analog converter, it can be set to output the note VELOCITY or any
controller CC from the midi device using the CC/VELOCITY switcher, it is
used to control any suitable module (e.g. VCF, VCA, etc.).
PROGRAM button is used to easily set the midi channel, and to set the
controller CC for the CV2 output
Midi In and Midi Thru connectors, allows you to connect many midi devices
in chain.


Install the Koneko unit in a standard eurorack case. (as the unit is very light,
it is not necessary to apply excessive force at the screws to set the unit to
the rack)
Connect it to the power bus using the provided ribbon cable, the red
marking indicates -12V. (Check very carefully that it is connected so that the
red colored marking on the ribbon cable is at the bottom of the module’s
connector. Failure to check this may result in the module’s instant
destruction as soon as the power is turned on.).
Connect the Koneko input socket MIDI IN to the MIDI OUT socket of your
MIDI instrument (master keyboard, MIDI synth, MIDI sequencer, etc.).
Switch your system on.
To set the midi channel, press the “PROGRAM” button once, the gate LED
will light up. Send a note-on signal (e.g. press a key on you midi keyboard),
the LED will go dark and the Koneko unit will be automatically set to the
same midi channel of your midi device, it will be saved in memory even
when the Koneko unit is turned off.
To set the controller CC that will be output by the “CV2” output socket,
press the “PROGRAM” button once, the gate LED will light up, send a
control change signal (e.g. move a knob or slider on you midi keyboard), the
LED will go dark and the Koneko unit will be automatically set to the same
controller number or CC on your midi device, it will be saved in memory
even when the Koneko unit is turned off. (Note: the CC controller voltage is
only available at “CV2” output socket when the CC/VELOCITY switcher is
set to CC position).
Patch the CV and gate outputs of the Koneko to the corresponding inputs of
your system.
