- Suitable for data logging from all types of devices which uses MODBUS RTU/ASCII protocols.
- Channels can be defined from Unlimited Serial ports
- Software starts automatically after Computer turns on. Only one time configuration.
- Enables graphic visualisation for very fast processes.
Possible to log data for every 50ms.
- Every channel has its own graphical screen.
Channels can be displayed in the same graphical screen when necessary.
- Channels are grouped in the main screen according to their group names.
- Data logging in Excel, XML, HTML and unlimited ASCII formats
- Creates files in configurable time intervals during data logging.
- Graphics saved in JPEG, PNG, GIF, PCX, VML, PostScript and PDF formats.
- Enables graphic visualisation in a ms resolution,
2-Dimension or 3-Dimension,colourful or black-white.
- Channel configurations are all independent.
Channel configurations can be stored in a file and can be read.
- Supports "Write Single Register" Modbus command. User may change device control parameters with this feature.
- Supported value types: Signed Integer, Unsigned Register, Signed Long, Unsigned Long and Float (IEEE 754).
Step1) Add New Device

Step2) Channel & Device Settings
Channel Name : User should enter a name for a new additional device
Group Name
: User should enter a name for a new group. If user would like to add
a new device into the the Same Group, user should use same Group Name.
Read Interval
: Logging intervals time can be determine by user (1 to 9999 second)
Response Time: Every controllers have got different response times.
User could find this information from the device’s producer. If user doesn’t
know the Response Time, at least 999 msec should be entered
Please enter 650msec for EMKO devices
Timeout
: If devices can not communicate during this time,
software will indicate timeout error. Adviced timeout value is 1000msec
Step3) Modbus Settings
ComPort : After power on, if it is the first time to run the program PC comport
setting should be made.
Start>All Programs>Administrative Tools>Computer Management>Device Manager
Please click Ports Button
to learn new Comport Number
BaudRate : Communication Baud Rate
ByteSize : Byte Selection for Communication
Parity
: Parity Selection for Communication
StopBits : Stop Bit Selection for Communication
* Software and devices’ Communication Parameters must be same
Default Values of Communication Paramters for EMKO products ;

Slave ID
: No ( parity )
: User should enter Device’s ID number into this blank.
(It can be be adjutment from 1 to 247 according to Device’s ID number)
Function : User should choose required Registers type ;
Read Holding Registers (4XXXX) code is used to write new value into the device
Read Input Register (3XXXX) code is used to read data from the device.
Offset
: This offset value is extension/complete part for registers code.
User should enter required value into the this part for logging to process value,
set value, alarm Value
Example for ESM-XX50 series ;
To read Process Value
- Register Function should be selected Read Input Register (3XXXX)
- Offset Value should be “ 0 ”

Channel Settings Button :
Start at logon: When the PC open, PROTAKAL start to
datalogging automatically
Show the splash screen: To show the splash screen,
when the open the PROTAKAL
Start Icon on System Tray : To show Program icon
on the System Tray
Ask to save settings on exit : Default and adviced is
unselected type for this icon. After this icon selected,
PROTAKAL ask to load all data on startup ever time.
When the program close, If user enter NO, all data are
removed from program. If user select YES, all data are
saved on the program.
