CRIBMASTER ENVIRONMENT
REQUIREMENTS
This CribSheet outlines the equipment, software and network requirements for an ideal CribMaster
environment.
NOTE: This document applies to Advantage and Non-advantage environments.

These requirements apply to the machine that serves as the CribMaster database and/or application
server.

Windows 8 (Basic, Pro, Enterprise)
Windows Server 2003, 2008, 2012
NOTE: The CribMaster executables are 32 bit but will also run on 64 bit systems.
IMPORTANT: CribMaster requires the .net framework. As of CribMaster version 9.6,
the minimum .net version required is 3.5 SP1. Although the CribMaster install package
includes .net, it is highly recommended that all windows updates, including .net are applied
before installing CribMaster. This will make the installation process much faster.

Cm Agent - This is typically run on the server, though it can be run on any computer in
the environment provided that rest of the computers in the environment can access it.
Only one instance of CribMaster Agent can run per database.
CribMaster Client
Crystal Reports Runtime - This will be installed with the CribMaster Client installation
if it is not already on the machine. This is required to render CribMaster Reports.
Internet Information Services (IIS) - This is only required if the other computers
within the environment are connecting to the database through a web service.
Cm Mobile - If you are using scanners, this service will need to be installed on the
local network.
LPR - If you are using Last Point Read, the Last Point Read service needs to be
installed on the local network.
NOTE: CribMaster is able to run inside of a virtual machine.

Network Requirements
No major modifications need to be made to a network when installing CribMaster. ATR must be able to connect
to the database to upload transactions and download updates. This connection is made over the internet using
http or https or directly through an ADO connection. The Network Appliance, the PC that runs ATR, connects
using a standard Cat5 network cable. A connection to the customer’s domain is not required. A broadband
connection is recommended.
Bandwidth
For CribMaster applications that use a webservice connection, such as ATR (versions 9 and later), the
suggested bandwidth should be T1 or greater for a shared network, 256 kbps (1/6 of a T1) for a dedicated link
used by a single machine.
To test the bandwidth of your machine, you can use the CribMaster Portal Tester (ftp://ecribmaster.com/Pub/
Software/Utilities/Cribmaster Utilities/Cribmaster Web Service Utility/). If that is not available, go to www.
speedtest.net to run a test over the web.
Ideal speeds would be:
Download: > 1.5Mb/s Upload: > 1.0MB/s Ping < 75 ms
Latency
Longer latencies can cause a drag on system performance. For CribMaster applications that use a webservice
connection, such as ATR (versions 9 and later), the suggested latency should be no longer than 250 ms,
although acceptable performance requires 150 ms or less.

ATR Connections
ATR connects to the main database at a customizable interval. If the network is down, ATR will still be able to
drive the machine. If it cannot upload transactions it will store them locally until network connectivity is restored.
Firewall Considerations
For networks that are behind a firewall, the IT Administrator at the facility will have to open port 80 to allow
outbound traffic.
NOTE: Port 443 can be used for secure URLs.
Machine Power Requirements
All CribMaster machines have the same power requirements:
•
U.S. - 120VAC, 60Hz, 3 Amp
•
Europe - 220-240VAC, 3 Amp
