Süss PA200 Camera streaming
The Süss PA200 has a video camera mounted on the microscope. It is directly connected to the TV
and power supplied by an external power supply next to the TV. Both power supply and TV must be
turned on to use the camera.
The output signal of the camera is connected to the TV and an output signal from the video is
connected to an Analog-to-USB converter adapter which is connected to the Windows XP computer
under the TV (Carplatpc11).
In order to stream the video, VLC must be running on a Windows session of this computer with some
specific parameters.
1. Stream video from VLC
The following steps must be performed on the Windows Carplat11 PC that is connected to the
Analog-to-USB adapter.
After opening a Windows session, one must create a *.bat script file on the desktop and insert the
following content:

mux=asf,dst=:8080/}" --sout-keep dshow://
Note: the code above is one single line.
One can also download the script file from the Carplat wiki:

Double click on the Camera_Stream.bat file to launch VLC
One should see the following VLC window if everything went well.

2. Play video from VLC
The following steps must be performed on a PC that will receive and play the video stream of the
camera. This computer must be connected to the EPFL network and have VLC installed, if not the
case, it can be downloaded from the official website: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/index.html
Launch VLC and go to the menu: Media > Open Network Stream…
Enter the following network URL:
http://128.178.19.56:8080
And hit Play.
Depending on the network load, one might need to wait a few seconds before the video is displayed.
One must also keep in mind that a delay of 1-2 seconds is observed due to real-time transcoding and
network delays.
