Optical Adjustment of the Module on a Camera
The below is an easy procedure to adjust the position of the AF lens module on a camera. This adjustment doesn’t
necessitate plugging in the electrical connector. It will enable you to get the full focus range and to minimize the image
field curvature for the infinite focus setting.
1) Switch on your camera and orient the camera in the direction of a focus target or object which is at least 5m away.
2) Set and slightly screw the AFL935/Caspian module in the M12 camera lens holder with the lens module unplugged
and no voltage applied.
3) Check the image of the scene on a monitor (the image should be out of focus at this point)
4) Screw the module in [clockwise] until the center of the image becomes sharp.
5) From this position, screw the module clockwise an additional 2 and ¼ turns with accuracy of +/- ¼ turn (the image
will become out of focus again).
6) You can now lock the module in that position if you wish or you can wait until the end of the procedure.
7) Plug the module FPCB into the driver. Infinite focus will be obtained for a voltage input of around 40Vrms. Focus at
closer positions will be obtained by applying higher voltages, up to 60Vrms.
For Finite Imaging, use above procedure but with focus target at your nominal object distance.
* The above procedure will get you very close to optimum focus. After the above procedure is completed, you can plug
the module in. Fine focus adjustment can be done (if desired), by setting the liquid lens to zero optical power and finetuning the focus on your focus target.
