D. Configuration of (extra) MDC.net Clients or Backends
In order to configure additional Client or Backend PC's a shared user-account should exists
(or be created) on all PC's running MDC.net. This can either be a local account (default) or a
shared domain account.
In order to configure the MDC.net system to use a (shared) domain account, please remove
the ";" from the line ";DomainLogon=" and enter the proper domain name in the file
"MDCnet.ini" located in the Windows directory (%SystemRoot%).
For either configuration, please follow the instructions below, to supply the MDC.net system
with the proper logon credentials:
1. Right-click the MDC.net Server Service icon and select the option "Config…".
2. Enter the correct "MDC.net Server Name", the "Network Logon" and "Network
Password" fields and click "Save & Close). The credentials will be stored (encrypted)
in the "MDCnet.ini"-file located in the Windows directory (%SystemRoot%).
3. Copy the "MDCnet.ini"-file into the Windows directory of your (new) MDC.net Client or
Backend PC.
To create an extra Backend PC, please copy the file "Backend.exe" from the share "MDCnet"
of your Server-PC to the desired location of the new PC. Now open a "Command Prompt",
navigate to the location where you stored the above mentioned file and enter "Backend
/install" followed by the "Enter"-key. To further configure the Backend, please start the
MDC.net Backend Service and select the option "Config…" available from the right-mouse
button menu on the Service icon. Please don't forget to select the proper Backend-ID. When
ready the Backend Service will need to be restarted.
®
If your system is equipped with the CCMS guarding system, please also copy the file
"AACAlertClient.dll" from the CCMS-installation directory to your new system and run the
command: "regsvr32 AACAlertClient.dll" from the same location using a Command Prompt.
To create an extra Client PC, please copy the following files from the "MDCnet" share of your
Server-PC:
AACError.dll
client_release.exe
libmySQL.dll
MDCCom.dll
mdclanguages.txt
RINGRING.WAV (or any other audio-file specified in the MDCNET.INI, optionally)
If desired, you can create a shortcut to the "client_release.exe"-file in order to start the
application from any desired location.
Please note that your DNS system should be configured correctly and that all PC's running
any MDC.net application should be able locate the MDC.net Server using it's name. The
MDC.net Server PC should be able to locate all Backends and Clients using the PC-name(s).
In case of any doubt, please verify the name lookup using the command "Ping" and/or
"NSLookup".

E. INI-file and database changes for Server Migration
The following options and settings have to be changed when INI-files and/or database
backups are used to restore an MDC.net system on a server with a different name, or if the
server name is changed:
1. In MDCnet.INI (%SystemRoot%) on all systems running the MDC.net
• MDCDatabaseHost
• MDCServerHost
2. CCMS Database (MySQL-Front) only for systems containing CCMS
• Table “tbl_instance”, all values in the column “Hostname”
• “Hostname” in the table “tbl_server”
3. MDC.net Database (MySQL-Front)
Only for systems containing the CCMS:
• Value at “CCMSEndpoint” in the table “globalsettings”
• Value at “UserManagerWSDLEndpoint” in the table “globalsettings”
All systems:
• hostname in the tabel “localsettings” (only the appropriate hostname)
• label in the table “studio” (only the appropriate label)
