Tilt Shelf
Used to create an ergonomic picking shelf that can be

Quixxsmart® Power Drive System
New Power Drive System
Operation
The power drive unit is designed to operate between two of Quixxsmart’s roller
channels. The power slide belt is in contact with the bottom of the product or
package that is being moved. The edges
of the package/product ride on the 2
nonpowered sections of roller track.
Guidance of the product package can
be achieved with the slide guide, part
number QSLG which is not shown in
photo 1 for clarity reasons. Photo 6
shows the SLG installed on a roller track.
Applications
This system can be used for the handling of containers, for the transfer of fixtures in custom manufacturing, assembly cells or for pick cells where the power
drive belt would be mounted to flow racks
and move containers through order fulfillment. Please call with your specific

Overview
The power drive system consists of a
modular conveyor contained in a Quixxsmart Structures 35 x 40 mm aluminum
roller channel.
Power is transmitted by a circular .312”
cross section reinforced urethane belt riding
in a semicircular groove on the circumference of the nylon rollers of the power drive
system. The rollers ride on polished stainless steel axles. This belt is industry
proven and is field weldable and is available in 50 and 100 foot lengths. See photo
11.

Mounting to the conveyor legs or frame
is achieved with channel mounting
bracket #CMB. See photo 7.
The length of the power drive system can
be easily modified using QSPL splices to
extend the track. Lengths of the roller channel can be cut with a carbide blade miter
saw. See photos 5 and 8.
Electrical
Motive power is a variable speed drive
fractional horse power 24V DC gear motor driving a power drive pulley. See photos 2, 3, and 4. The power drive motor
controller requires a 120V 20A circuit.
This brushless motor features silent operation, high torque, and compact size and
control can be provided by the standard
variable speed controller or a customer
specified plan. (3” dia. and 4.5” long). See
photo 2.

Quixxsmart® modular system is based on 13 structural fittings. Each fitting is
stamped steel and is made up from 2 or more pieces for quick fitment. The
fittings are held together by a combination of interlocking joints and M6 socket
head cap screws. A recessed pocket on the fittings captivates the hex nut.
The benefit is that a structure can be assembled with just a 5 mm hex key. All
fittings have a durable finish and come with fasteners. Fittings should be
torqued to 12 n/m or 8.85 ft/lbs. For extra security our fittings come with the
Clamptight® feature, an untapped 4.0 mm hole in the body. This can be used
with a #8 sheet metal screw. See side bar and photos 1, 2, and 3.

Quixxsmart Fittings
Our fittings are stamped from high
quality steel which is .095”/2.4mm
thick. They are designed for maximum clamping and holding force and
can be used and reused. The finish is
a tough black oxide that is chip and
rust resistant. For further tube retention many of the fitting bodies have
two deep stamped ribs which help
grip the tubes. This insures structural
rigidity and design integrity.

Each fitting also features our patent
pending Clamptight® hole design that
allows you to make your rack construction semi or fully permanent.
(Photo 1) Each fitting has a 4 mm
hole punched through it which provides a pilot hole to affix the fitting to a
tube. For semi permanent applications the tube can be fastened with a
#8 x 1/4 self drilling, hex washer head
screw P/N QSDS - HH (Photo 2) for
permanent applications use a 4.2 mm
drill and an Avdel #1624-D514 blind
rivet. (Photo 1) Both the self drilling
fasteners, rivets and 4.2 mm are
available from Quixxsmart. Benefits of
the Clamptight® feature are:

1.075”/27.3 mm with a .065”1.6 mm wall
Overview - Quixxsmart Structures Tubing is available in 2 versions: steel
with a flow coated zinc finish and steel with a bonded plastic jacket.
This is over double the wall thickness of competing products. The benefit is
lower design and labor costs because fewer fittings and tubing are needed
for a given structural requirement. The tubing is flow coated zinc for high
quality appearance and corrosion resistance. It can also be powder coated
in custom colors. It is specially manufactured for us and is engineered for

Roller Track Aluminum Profile
Our aluminum profile series roller track features a patent pending slide guide
design to provide the most compact and efficient use of lateral space. The
roller track is a 35 mm high by 40 mm wide profile, with a clear anodized
finish. The extrusion can be cut with a carbide blade, band saw or cold saw. A
captive T-slot runs down the length of each side. With our T slot nut P/N
TSN6, guides, scanners proximity switches, light curtains and other accessories can be easily mounted and positioned on the tracks. The roller track’s
modular design includes a molded carrier P/N CRR, a 33mm diameter wheel
P/N R33W and stainless steel axles P/N QXL. For the 44mm diameter
wheel order the R44W with the CRR44 carrier. The roller track can be assembled and disassembled without tools.

Mounting Brackets
Customer Design Ideas
Slip on single piece flow and stop mounting brackets.
Designed to fit our aluminum 35 x 40 mm profile series.
A roller track mounting bracket is required at each end of each roller track
to mount to your flow rack frame. On the backside of the rack, where your
containers are loaded, an end flow mounting bracket P/N QF is utilized
and at the front of the rack a flow stop mounting bracket P/N QS or a drop
stop P/N QDS is required. The flow stop has a lip to prevent containers
from rolling off the rack. The flow (QF), the stop (QS) and the drop stop
(QDS) mounting brackets are engineered to slide on the roller track. The
mounting bracket lips have 2 embossed triangles designed to mount
snugly on the horizontal tube of the flow rack. For added security a self
tapping screw can be used to fasten the end flow and flow stop to the
horizontal tube through a hole in the mounting bracket. Standard finish is
a bright zinc plating.

Why Live Storage?
The case for developing your own
custom live storage flow racks is an easy
one to make. By using gravity to flow your
containers, storage foot print size is
reduced, which minimizes flow space
requirements. Custom designed flow
racks at point of use pick points eliminate, “stock room runs”, stock out,
production down times and nonvalue
added handling and labor of containers.
Flow racks built with Quixxsmart StructuresTM can be designed and built for
optimized JIT part presentation. Other
applications include racks, sub-assembly
kitting or component storage for manufacturing and storage and retrieval of
SKU’s in warehousing. Flow racks also

FIFO or LIFO, fast movers or slow

Mounting Accessories - We offer many accessories
to floor mount your Quixxsmart ® Structure.
End Cap This piece wedges into a tube and can be used to terminate
any open tubes or used as a foot. Part number QECI.
Threaded Bushing Use the threaded bushing in conjunction with the
leveler to compensate for uneven floors. Threaded bushing utilizes spring steel
washers to hold on the interior tube wall and has a 3/8-16 threaded insert.

Selection
New Casters
Add casters to your stations and racks for flexibility and increased productivity. Casters make
reconfiguring your cell fast. They also assist in clean up.
There are two major variables when selecting casters: stem mount or plate mount as shown in
the two drawings. Stem type are the simplest to mount on your Quicksmart rack but are somewhat limited in their weight carrying capacity. Our 75 mm caster is rated for 68 kg per wheel.
Plate type casters have heavier carrying capacity.

our standard wheel. Please call for specialized sizes, bearings or
applications.

Casters
Our standard offering includes stem and plate type casters in 3”/75mm, 4”/100 mm or 5”/125 mm diameter. The 4”/100 mm
and 5”/125 mm casters are available with fixed, swivel and total lock rigs. The wheels are a rubber compound for quiet
operation and long life. Please call if your caster application has additional requirements. All plate type casters have an
8mm threaded insert for attachment to the QF1000Q + QF1002Q caster straps with the 8 mm 40mm hex head cap screw.

n To get maximum strength, use full lengths of tubing rather than piecing
tubes together with joints.
n Use the QC-11 fittings to sister tubes together for higher rigidity. See
Figure 1

brace a 90o (see drawing) tube and fitting combination. See Figure 2
n Use the QC-4 fitting to bisect a horizontal span of tube to reduce sag.
