Introduction
Nesbo Weed Brush type UK 425 / 475 / 725 R/L is a hydraulically powered weed brush implement. Weed brush implements are an alternative to herbicide spraying. Using a mechanical brush, they can remove weeds from flagstones, paths and road sides. A weed brush implement can also be used to sweep weeds away from gravelled paths and tracks
– without disturbing gravel and sand more than absolutely necessary.
Weed Brush UK 425 / 475 / 725 R/L is designed to fit on the front of a tool carrier with a standard front assembly, i.e. A-frame for 0, 1 or 2 linkage and two or three-point tractor hitch categories 0, 1 or 2. No special tools are required.
The power needed to drive the implement is supplied via the tool carrier's hydraulic connection(s).
Mechanical system on model UK 425 / 475 / 725 R/L
The implements are available in several variants, i.e. there is a choice of control mechanisms for the variable functions
Tool carrier equipped with 2 dual hydraulic connections.
In this variant, the weed brush is equipped as standard with 1 x reversing valve
1 x hydraulic connection to extend the main beam
2 x hydraulic connection to tilt the brush head, i.e. to switch between 2 hydraulic cylinders with an electric reversing valve, controlled via the electrical panel.
Tractor equipped with 1 dual hydraulic connection.
In this variant, the weed brush is equipped as standard with 1 x extra reversing valve = 2 x reversing valves in all.
All functions are powered by 1 hydraulic connection, which switches between the various functions using 2 reversing valves.
Tractor equipped with 3 dual hydraulic connections.
In this variant, all the hydraulic functions are controlled hydraulically, i.e. there are no reversing valves.

Noise level
The noise level to which the driver is exposed in the tractor cabin is 74-85 dB (A).
These figures originate from data provided by most tractor manufacturers in their product specifications.
In any situation, in which the operator of a UK 425 / 475 / 725 R/L implement may feel that the noise level is unpleasant, Nesbo A/S recommends the use of ear defenders.
Choice of tool carrier
When choosing an tool carrier, you should make certain that the weed brush implement and tool carrier together are stable during operation.
Note that the centre of gravity of the tool carrier shifts when the weed brush is attached to it, especially when the brush head is extended. Take special care on slopes and inclines.
For your guidance, Nesbo A/S recommends that the tractor you use with UK - R/L meets the following:
- min. net weight
UK 725 R/L
1350 kg
- min. wheel gauge 1000 mm
- min. PTO voltage 15 kW (20,4 HK)
Hitch
UK 425 / 475 R/L
850 kg
800 mm
12 kW (16,5 HK)
The tool carrier must be equipped with a three-point tractor hitch category 0, 1 or 2, or an
A-frame category 0, 1 or 2. It may be possible to use another recognised hitch.
Hydraulic connections
The tractor must have an independent hydraulic connection to ensure that the weed brush rotation speed is independent of tractor propulsion.

Warning
Ensure that the tool carrier oil flow is correct (See label on the machine).
If the oil flow on the tool carrier is higher than the weed brush machine specifications, the machine may spread stones fiercely, representing a serious risk of personal injury or irreparable damage to the machine.
Attaching UK 425 / 475 / 725 R/L to the tool carrier
To attach UK 425 / 475 and UK 725 R/L to the tool carrier, drive the vehicle up to the weed brush implement in the basic position.
A-frame: If an A-frame link is used, the male frame on the tractor must be lowered as far as possible to ensure that there is some clearance between the male and female frames. Drive forward, raise the hitch and the frame locks in.
3-point tractor hitch: Drive the vehicle up to the weed brush implement. Stop the vehicle at right angles to the machine, so that the front hitch beams are aligned with the pins on the machine. Stop the tractor. Attach the implement manually.
Other frame/hitch types: Follow the manufacturer's instructions for the specific type of frame.
Warning
Manoeuvring the frame/hitch at the connection between the implement and carrier is potentially dangerous. If connecting the implement is difficult
– find someone to help.
If the sides are not aligned, adjust the top rod so that the weed brush implement frame is vertical and the main beam can slide horizontally.

Attach the quick lock hoses to the tractor's operative hydraulic connections. Check that the connections are correctly locked.
Attach the quick lock hoses to the dual hydraulic connections on the front of the tractor.
Electric control unit
CAUTION
Take care when positioning hydraulic hoses and electric cables. They can easily be damaged.
NB
Hydraulic hoses are supplied in standard lengths.
If they need to be shortened, this must be performed by the dealer.
In addition to connecting the hydraulic hoses, you have to fit an electric control cable from the weed brush implement to the tractor cabin. Connect the electric control unit to the inside of the tractor.
BASIC SETTING
The weed brush is suspended freely from the hitch so that it is possible to move large volumes of material by pressing the steel brushes down onto the ground using height adjustment, regulated by means of the hitch functions.
Height adjustment also means that the implement can reach small indentations in asphalt surfaces, etc. to remove material/weeds.
Please note, however, that the machine can be overloaded. The warranty does not cover damage caused by overloading.
Please note
To set the working speed of the hydraulic cylinder which extends the beam and rotates the brush head, turn the throttle valves.

Brush position
Always take into account the conditions under which the steel brushes will be working. At curbs and on cobblestones it is often an advantage to tilt the brush plate in order to sweep more intensively. Less bristle contact means that there is more bristle pressure on the ground.
On firm gravel roads, large paved areas, etc. is often an advantage to use the full operating width of the brush plate. Greater brush pressure will normally be needed here to drag weeds up.
There are several different brush head settings, which determine different directions of spread.
Spreading material
Warning
Never adjust the brush plate if there is anyone close to the weed brush implement.
People must remain at a safe distance of at least
3-4 m from the machine when the operator is seated in the tractor cabin.
By tilting the brush plate, you can adjust material spread in any direction you wish. The direction of rotation and tilt of the brush plate determine the direction of spread.
WARNING

NESBO A/S
Daniavej 31

Protective guard
To minimise the spread of material against the tool carrier and to the side, there is an adjustable rubber guard. As a rule, the rubber guard should be adjusted according to the brush plate position.
On flat ground, the rubber guard should be fully lowered, although there should be a little clearance.
On uneven ground, the rubber guard should be adjusted so that the gap between the ground and the guard is about 5-10 cm. Correct adjustment prevents unnecessary wear-and-tear on the guard as a result of contact with the uneven ground.
Warning
Switch off the tractor before adjusting the rubber guard.
Failure to do so may result in serious personal injury
START
Once the basic settings are in place, UK 425 / 475 / 725 R/L is ready to start.
Start the tractor and leave it idling.
Engage the weed brush hydraulic control handle. With the tractor motor idling, check that the machine rotates freely and encounters no obstacles.
Increase RPM to the normal level and allow the machine to run for 1 minute. Note if there are abnormal vibrations or noises coming from the machine. If there are abnormal vibrations or noises, contact your dealer immediately.
To stop the weed brush implement, reduce tractor RPM to idling and put the hydraulic control handle into neutral.
NB
The weed brush is fitted with a specially designed Parker hydraulic motor, which has an integrated crossover valve to protect the machine if there is excess oil pressure or if the hydraulic control handle is disengaged when the brush head is rotating at high speed.
The machine is now ready to run.

Operation/use of UK 425 / 475 / 725 R/L
Before using the machine, the operator must ensure that he is well-acquainted with the machine's hydraulic functions.
The machine may only be used in the areas described in the introduction.
WARNING
Increasing the brush rotation speed above the values stated by the manufacturer presents a potential risk of personal injury as this can cause. a harder and longer spread of material, e.g. stones, than stated above. No-one may stand within a radius of 15 metres from the weed brush.
Switch to working on the opposite side
To switch from working on the right to the left (or vice versa):
Remove the rubber guard cottar pin.
Remove the rubber guard.
Remove the 2 ring pins on the steering rod.
Remove the steering rod.
Swing the brush head to the opposite side
Refit the parts and the machine is ready to operate on the opposite side.

Vertical operation (UK 725 R/L only)
On UK 725 R/L the brush head can be tilted to
sweep in the vertical position
Breakdown
In the event of a breakdown:
Reduce tractor RPM to idling, release the tractor's hydraulic handle and stop the tractor before leaving the cabin. If you cannot identify the cause of the breakdown, contact your dealer. You should contact your dealer if a breakdown occurs in hydraulic, electrical or mechanical functions.
To restart:
Check that the tractor's hydraulic handle is disengaged. Start the tractor and let it idle, while you check that the machine is in perfect working order.
FIRE RISK
If the weed brush is working in very dry conditions and on hard ground, sparks may occur.
There is therefore a serious risk that dry vegetation may ignite.
WARNING
In exposed areas with very dry vegetation where a fire would spread easily, the operator must ensure that the area is watered before using the weed brush.
DETACHING THE IMPLEMENT
To detach UK 425 / 475 /725 R/L from the tool carrier, perform the following in this order:
