Congratulations! You’ve just bought the MIDI foot controller Max Control FC-18. This controller is built with high quality parts in order to bring you the best performance. Description Max Control FC-18 is a programmable MIDI foot controller, designed from a musician’s point of view with special emphasis in being easy-to-use, reliable, and with all the necessary functions to control modern setups that include multieffect racks, amps, preamps, audio switchers, analog effects, an others. All specifications subject to change without notice. Operation To start using the controller, connect a 12V DC 500 mA power supply to the power input jack (if you don’t plan to use the power out then you can also use a standard 9V DC power supply): 13 2 Then connect the MIDI OUT from the controller to the MIDI IN of the first device in the MIDI chain. 3 Product Care Try to avoid cleaning the device with solvent or abrasive products. Keep the device dry and away from dust. Don’t connect power loads like lamps or loudspeakers to the audio loop. Keep ventilated. 12 o Value-Off: control change value to be transmitted when the button is off. o Device: the target device for this control change message. Each preset can send up to 16 program change and 16 control change messages. Finally, you can connect a tuner or any pedal effect in the built-in effects loop. Many guitarists use this loop for wah pedal. There’s an integrated 9V DC power output intended to power that pedal (in order to use this output the controller must be powered by a 12V DC power supply). Example of loop connection: 11 4 When the loop is on, the audio signal is sent to the effect, and you get the processed signal in the OUT jack. • • When the loop is off, the signal goes directly from IN to OUT, bypassing the effect. • 5 Control change: o Enabled: enables the transmission of a control change message. o Device: the target device for this control change message. o Number: the control change number. o Value: the value for the control change message. Expression Pedal: o Enabled: enables an expression pedal. o Device: the target device for the program change messages of the expression pedal. o Control change: the control change number. o Minimum value: valor a enviar con el pedal en mínimo o Maximum value: valor a enviar con el pedal en máximo Instant Access: although Instant Access buttons configuration is global, you can change it at the preset level. o Override global: enables the configuration at the preset level. o On/off: Initial state of the button when preset is selected. o Control change: the control change number. o Value-On: control change value to be transmitted when the button is on. 10 • • • o Name: assigned name of the expression pedal. Out: o Soft Thru: enables the retransmission of MIDI messages received by MIDI IN. In: o MIDI channel: MIDI channel for incoming messages. SysEx: o Device ID: ID of the controller for SysEx messages o Remote Device ID: ID of the remote device to communicate with. Any of the buttons can have any configuration. Any of the buttons can be Bank Up or Bank Down. It is possible to configure all the buttons to have the same function type at the same time. Presets Setup: a preset is a stored configuration that consists of a set of MIDI messages (i.e. MIDI string) to be transmitted to a number of target devices: • Name: name of the preset, up to 16 characters length. • Program change: o Enabled: enables the transmission of a program change message. o Device: the target device for this program change message. 9 After powering the controller, it starts working in Play Mode. In this mode you can: • Change bank by using the Bank Up and Bank Down buttons (by default G and H buttons). • Select presets using preset buttons (by default 0-9 and A-F buttons). To enter Setup Mode press G and H buttons simultaneously. Setup is divided into three parts: • System • Global • Presets Global Setup: • Buttons o Function: every button supports any of the following functions: Preset: this is the default function for buttons 0-9 and A-F. When this function is set, the button selects a different preset depending on the currently selected bank. For example, button 5 transmits preset 15 in bank 1, preset 25 in bank 2, preset 75 in bank 7, and so on. 6 7 Bank Up: this is the default function for button G. When this function is set, the button increases the bank number. Bank Down: this is the default function for button H. When this function is set, the button decreases the bank number. Instant Access: this associates the button to a control change number, regardless of the currently selected bank. This association is at the global level, unless you override it at the preset level. Favorite: this associates the button to a fixed preset number, regardless of the currently selected bank. CC Increment: this associates the button to a control change number, regardless of the currently selected bank, and increases the value of that control change. CC Decrement: this associates the button to a control change number, regardless of the currently selected bank, and decreases the value of that control change. Custom: sends an arbitrary string of MIDI messages o Action: is the way the button reacts when pressed or released. Depending on the function, a button can be configured with one of the following action types: Alternate: this is a toggle switch. Depending on the MIDI string transmitted the last time the button was pressed, it sends MIDI string On or Off. Momentary: sends MIDI string On when pressed, and MIDI string Off when released. o Name: name of the button • • • MIDI Devices: you can give a name to any of the MIDI channels in order to make the rest the configuration easier: o Name: name of the device/channel. o Channel: MIDI channel number.
