Anyone selling exclusive products will pay particular attention to proper presentation. HCI ® -T and HCI ® -TC ceramic lamps from OSRAM provide natural light in professional sales outlets, exhibition areas and showrooms. POWERBALL HCI ® Shoplight, another innovation from OSRAM, has been specially developed for high-quality sales lighting. These lamps not only have extremely good natural color rendering at the red end of the spectrum, they also offer high luminous fl ux. POWERBALL HCI ® -R111 lamps in the classic shape offer variety and high performance for open luminaires. For very small luminaires that have to provide large amounts of light, the smallest lamp in the range, the POWERBALL HCI ® -TF, is ideal.

POWERBALL HCI ® -T, -TM and -TT lamps are perfect for prestige city, street and park lighting.

Their white halogen-like light presents objects in their natural colors and is therefore particularly pleasant and attractive and gives people a sense of security. Existing luminaires can be quickly and easily upgraded with POWERBALL HCI ® -TT. HCI ® -T, -E, -TS and -TM lamps are also ideal for indoor applications where the demands are particular “high”, such as atriums, railroad stations, factories, sports halls and prestige offi ces with high ceilings.

The POWERBALL HCI ® super model from OSRAM with its round ceramic arc tube puts its cylindrical competitors firmly in the shade.

Better red color rendering.

The already excellent color rendering quality of metal halide lamps has been even further improved in the POWERBALL HCI ® with a better color rendering index at the demanding red end of the spectrum.

Constant light and color performance.

The secret behind the ability of POWERBALL HCI ® lamps to produce more light throughout their long life is their high corrosion resistance. The discharge vessel has no cold corners in which the fi ller gases can collect and attack the ceramic wall. Luminous effi cacy and color stability remain at a high level throughout the long life of the lamp - and in any burning position.

Optimum arc tube geometry for more light.

In the round ceramic arc tube higher arc temperatures are possible because the distance between the hot discharge arc and the ceramic wall is greater, so the wall does not get as hot.

Thanks to this optimum geometry, more light can be generated in the arc, thereby increasing the luminous effi cacy. There are no thick walls that swallow the light. The arc tube walls are uniformly thin so the light can escape unhindered. The result is more light and less energy loss.

Fewer components for greater stability.

The arc tube consists only of rounded components and has no “rupture points” where there is an abrupt change in wall thickness or diameter. This means that POWERBALL HCI ® has greater mechanical stability and is less susceptible to vibrations.

A comparison between cylindrical and round arc tubes:

Cylindrical arc tube:

Loss of light due to uneven spacing between the discharge arc and the ceramic wall and light-absorbent plugs.

Round arc tube:

More light – thanks to uniform spacing and uniform light in all directions.

Cylindrical arc tube:

In the corners the fi lling reacts instead of producing light.

Round arc tube:

Lower luminous fl ux losses and better stability because there are no deposits in the corners.
