SMS Applications
Plant Control
A 24 hour a day process plant is being monitored by a dataTaker DT800
with an SMSX Modem. The plant engineer can request current parameters
operating in the plant via the logger and SMSX Modem. Should critical
parameters be exceeded the logger will send an SMS message
to the engineer.
The engineer then has the option of amending the alarm parameters or
even closing the process down by sending an SMS message to change the
digital outputs from the logger. This can be done from across the plant or
anywhere in the world.
Wind Factor
A dataTaker data logger is logging wind speed and direction at a remote site.
On a routine basis it is necessary to check the wind sensor is still functional.
Rather than trekking to the site with a laptop computer the researcher can
self test the installation using a mobile phone and an SMS message.
River Alarmed
A dataTaker data logger is situated at a remote site monitoring river height,
temperature and salinity. The battery is charged using a solar panel.
An SMSX module is configured to transmit alarms by SMS when conditions
in the river exceed set parameters. The user can change the alarm
parameters or simply check river conditions at any time by sending a simple
SMS message
