New products 2013 Liquid Handling, Sample Handling, Cell Handling – Supplement to catalog 2 50 years of Eppendorf tubes To celebrate the Eppi’s 50th birthday, we're closing the gap between small and large volumes in our sample tubes by introducing the mid-sized 5.0 mL tube. 3 » Welcome to the Eppendorf product world « As a leading life sciences company, once again this year we’ve expanded our wide-ranging product portfolio. Our 2013 catalog supplement offers you a variety of product innovations, as always with the highest level of quality. Within our three competence areas – Liquid Handling, Sample Handling and Cell Handling – we've used our expert technical and applications know-how to develop new products in line with your requirements and wishes. In line with our longstanding tradition, they are all designed to fulfill both our high standards and your expectations. As an example, in Liquid Handling we’ve introduced two new epMotion® models, M5073 and P5073. They each offer you two systems in one: a tailored system for your special applications and a flexible, open system for automating a variety of applications and complex pipetting procedures. In Sample Handling, we’ve closed the gap in existing vessel sizes with the new 5.0 mL Eppendorf tube, for users with midsized sample volumes. Our offer in Cell Handling has been expanded too. For example, you’ll find the innovative Eppendorf µCuvette™ and now also the parallel DASGIP® bioreactor systems in our product portfolio. Since its founding 67 years ago, Eppendorf has been known as a premium provider of devices and consumables for laboratory work and research. Whether in academic or industrial research labs, whether in the food, environmental or pharmaceutical industry, Eppendorf’s first-class quality, comprehensive service and sustainability-oriented company philosophy give you the good feeling and confidence that you can always rely on Eppendorf products. Pipetting Pipetting Liquid Handling Pipetting 12 Liquid Handling Dispensing Dispensing Dispensing Dispensing Combitips advanced® Description The Eppendorf Combitips have been completely redesigned and optimized to meet the increased requirements of a modern laboratory to a greater extent than ever before. The result is the Combitips advanced. As they offer a wide variety of advantages in comparison with the Combitips plus and other dispenser tips, we talk about the 360° Evolution! The Combitips advanced also function according to the positive displacement principle. Thus they always dispense the correct volume independently of the density of the liquid and its flow characteristics (e.g. increased vapor pressure or increased viscosity). Working with radioactive, or toxic materials also becomes safer due to the hermetically sealed piston preventing aerosol contamination. Technical specifications are subject to change. Surface scratches, among others, can affect the chemical resistance and accelerate the corrosion process. The stress of high number of cycles increases the likelihood of microscopic cracks. These microcracks can be detected early on during a qualified inspection, which will allow the rotor to be exchanged before serious damage has occurred. Our certified, qualified service technicians use sophisticated borescope devices to detect invisible, yet critical, cracks and scratches. If none or very few surface changes are identified, the rotor can be used according to instructions - or for an additional year if the inspection was performed at the end of the recommended service life. In the absorption range, spectra measurements can be made between 200 nm to 830 nm. The fluorescence unit of the BioSpectrometer fluorescence can be used to increase the measuring range by a factor of 1,000, for detecting DNA for example. This means that DNA can be reliably quantified well beyond the common lower photometric detection limit of approx. 2.5 ng/µL, and up to a concentration of 2.5 pg/µL. The fluorescence intensity is determined using an excitation wavelength of 470 nm and emission wavelengths of 520 nm and 560 nm. Well-known dyes for nucleic acid and protein quantification, such as PicoGreen, OliGreen, RiboGreen and NanoOrange, can be measured. The higher the sample concentration, the shorter the optical path length used to measure the sample. With an optical path length of only 1 mm, the µCuvette G1.0 features a light path that is ten times shorter than the light path on standard cuvettes. This allows nucleic acid concentrations to be measured with high reproducibility in a much higher concentration range without prior dilution. Self-absorption of the µCuvette G1.0 is very low, meaning that the entire measuring range of the photometer can be used. The µCuvette G1.0 has been exclusively developed for the Eppendorf BioPhotometer and Eppendorf BioSpectrometer.
