INTRODUCTION

Thank you for purchasing this Non-Contact Digital Infrared Thermometer. Please read this instruction manual completely before using your unit to ensure safe use, accurate results and long life of the thermometer.

This product is intended for household use; this product is not intended to diagnose or treat any health problem or disease and should not be used as a substitute for the consultation and advice of a physician or other medical professional. Thermometers should only be used under the supervision of an adult.

The infrared technology used in this thermometer takes the temperature of people and objects without any physical contact between the thermometer and the person or object.

The thermometer measures body temperature from approximately 2” – 3” from the forehead, making it less invasive and threatening than other thermometers, as well as more sanitary. It can even be used when the patient is sleeping. This thermometer also measures the temperature of objects and liquids, making it useful for determining if a baby’s milk or bathwater is ready.

All people and objects emit infrared energy. The Non-Contact Digital Infrared

Thermometer measures that energy, taking 512 readings in one second and converting those data to a single peak temperature, which appears on the display. With proper care, your new thermometer will provide your entire family with many years of safe, accurate and comfortable temperature readings.

BODY TEMPERATURE AND FEVER

Body temperature can vary from 97°F(36.1°C) and 99°F(37.2°C) and still be considered normal. The medically accepted ‘normal’ body temperature is 98.6°F(37°C)

Body temperature is commonly lower in the morning than at any point during the rest of an individual’s waking hours.

A fever is defined as a body temperature that is elevated above the normal for that person. It is important to determine what is normal for an individual before determining if a fever is present. Tracking an individual’s temperature on a consistent basis, at the same body site and at the same time every day will help determine an individual’s normal temperature.

TIPS FOR MEASURING

BODY TEMPERATURE

• Wait at least one minute between consecutive readings, to ensure accuracy.

• Attempting to take temperature readings from sites on the body other than the forehead may produce inaccurate results.

• The patient should remain still while the reading is being taken.

• If “Lo,” “Hi,” “Err,” or another error message appears, see the Troubleshooting section of this manual for instructions on how to resolve the problem.

• Infrared forehead temperature readings are equivalent to oral temperature readings.

• Readings taken while asleep should not be compared directly to readings taken while awake, as body temperature while asleep is typically lower.

• Do not take body temperature readings within 30 minutes of being outdoors, exercising or bathing.

• Normal temperature readings can vary from 97.0° F to 99.0° F (36.1°C to 37.2°

C). Level of activity, time of day, and other factors may affect body temperature.

Keep records of your individual body temperature to use as a reference when judging a fever.

MEASURING BODY TEMPERATURE

To measure body temperature using your Digital Infrared

Thermometer, follow these steps:

1. Press the Power button to turn the thermometer on. The unit will run a self-test and all symbols on the display will momentarily appear, Fig. 1.

2. Ensure that the thermometer is in Person mode; the Person symbol will be on the display, Fig 2. To alternate between modes press and release the Person/Object Mode button until you see the desired measurement symbol on the display.

3. Press and hold the MEASURE button. The Person symbol,

Scan in Progress symbol and “00” should be displayed, Fig. 3.

4. While holding the MEASURE button, aim the infrared lens at the patient’s forehead, holding the thermometer approximately

1.5” – 2.5” away, Fig. 4.

5. Release the MEASURE button, DO NOT MOVE THE

THERMOMETER; THE MEASUREMENT IS NOT YET COMPLETE.

6. The thermometer will beep again, and the temperature reading will be displayed, Fig. 5. If the temperature measurement is below 100.4° F, a happy face will be appear next to the reading. If the reading is 100.4° F or above, a sad face will be displayed.

7. After about one minute after use, the thermometer will automatically beep and shut off.

MEASURING OBJECT/LIQUID

TEMPERATURE

The Non-Contact Digital Infrared Thermometer can measure objects and liquids from 32°F to 221°F (0°C - 105°C). To measure the temperature of an object or liquid using your Digital Infrared Thermometer, follow these steps:

1. Press the Power button to turn the thermometer on. All symbols on the display will momentarily appear, Fig. 1.

2. Ensure that the thermometer is in Object mode; the Object symbol will be on the display, Fig 2. To alternate between modes press and release the Person/Object Mode button until you see the desired measurement symbol on the display.

3. Press and hold the MEASURE button. The Object symbol, the

Scan in Progress symbol, and “00” should be displayed, Fig. 3.

4. While holding the MEASURE button, aim the infrared lens at the object or the surface of the liquid, holding the thermometer approximately 1.5” – 2.5” away, Fig. 4.

5. Release the MEASURE button. DO NOT MOVE THE

THERMOMETER; THE MEASUREMENT IS NOT YET COMPLETE.

6. The thermometer will beep once, and the temperature reading will be displayed, Fig. 5.

7. After about one minute after use, the thermometer will automatically beep and shut off.

SWITCHING BETWEEN ºF / ºC

Your thermometer can display results in either degrees Fahrenheit

(°F) or degrees Celsius (°C).

To switch between Fahrenheit and Celsius, while the unit is on press and hold both the Person/Object button and the MEM (Memory) button until the °F icon on the display switches to the °C icon, or vise versa, at which time the mode has been changed and you may release the buttons.

RECALLING AND CLEARING

READINGS

Your Non-Contact Digital Infrared Thermometer automatically stores the last 10 readings taken. To view the readings stored in memory, follow these steps:

1. Press the MEASURE button to turn the thermometer on.

2. Press the MEM (Memory) button to recall the most recent measurement, Fig. 1.

3. Press the MEM (Memory) button multiple times to view previous readings (the unit will beep each time you switch readings). The index number above the temperature reading indicates the sequential number of the stored reading you are currently viewing.

After 10 measurements have been stored in the memory, the oldest reading will be automatically deleted. To clear all records from the memory, hold the Memory button down until you hear a beep and two dashes appear on the display, Fig. 2.

REPLACING BATTERY

When the battery power becomes low, the low battery symbol will appear on the display. The thermometer can still be used during this time, but the batteries should be replaced as soon as possible.

If the batteries run out completely, “Lo” will be displayed along with the low battery symbol. In this case, the batteries will need to be replaced before using the thermometer again.

The batteries used in the Non-Contact Digital Infrared Thermometer are two AAA batteries. Either rechargeable or non-rechargeable batteries can be used in the thermometer. To replace the batteries, follow these steps:

1. Slide the battery cover off.

2. Carefully remove the old batteries. Do not use a metal-pointed tool.

3. Insert the new batteries, ensuring that the positive and negative ends are aligned correctly.

4. Replace the battery cover.

5. Dispose of the expired batteries in accordance with local environmental policies.

CARE AND SAFETY INFORMATION

Improper care or use of your thermometer may result in injury, damage to the unit or inaccurate readings, which can lead to a misdiagnosed fever. Following these instructions will ensure the thermometer’s accuracy and long life.

• Never allow the thermometer to be used without adult supervision.

• The infrared technology used in this thermometer is safe and is not harmful in any way. However, we recommend avoiding looking into the lens during use.

• Clean the lens before and after each use.

• Do not touch the lens with fingers.

• Dropping the thermometer or causing other heavy impact may damage it.

• When not in use, store the thermometer in the provided storage case.

• Do not store the thermometer in direct sunlight, dusty or humid environments, or extreme temperatures

• Do not disassemble the thermometer or attempt to repair it.

• If a reading cannot be taken, and the troubleshooting steps do not fix the problem, the thermometer must be replaced.

CLEANING AND STORAGE

The lens should be cleaned before and after each use, to eliminate dirt and fingerprints and ensure the accuracy of your readings. Proper storage will prevent degradation and damage to the unit.

CLEANING: Figs 1, 2

• An alcohol swab, or a soft cotton cloth moistened with 70% isopropyl alcohol, should be used to gently cleanse the lens. Do not use water to wash the thermometer.

• The body of the thermometer can be cleaned with a soft, dry cloth.

• Never use a paper towel to clean the probe tip, as it may scratch the lens.

• Do not immerse the thermometer or allow liquid to enter the casing.

• Do not use cleaning agents other than alcohol to clean the thermometer; abrasives, thinners or gasoline will damage the unit.

STORAGE:

• Store the unit in the provided storage pouch.

• Protect the thermometer from mechanical shock or heavy impact.

• Store the unit in an area away from sunlight, dust and humidity.

• Avoid extended exposure to extreme temperatures. The thermometer should be stored in an environment between -13°F and 131°F (-25°C - 55°C), and with relative humidity of 95% or lower.

• Remove the battery during extended storage.

TROUBLE SHOOTING

The following chart indicates error messages that may appear on your display, why they appear, and how you may solve the problem.

The warrantor guarantees that its Non-Contact Infrared Digital Thermometer will be free from manufacturing defects for a period of five years from the date of purchase. This warranty does not cover batteries or other power sources that may be provided with or used with the Non-Contact

Infrared Digital Thermometer. This warranty is voided if the Non-Contact Infrared Digital

Thermometer is misused or abused in any manner.

If the Non-Contact Infrared Digital Thermometer fails to operate during the time the original purchaser owns it, return it postage prepaid to: Attn: Repair Department, 1175 Lakeside

. When returning a product, please also include your name, address, phone number and brief description of the specific problem with your unit. Take care to carefully package the product to avoid any damage that may occur while in transit; shipping insurance with returned receipt is recommended. The warrantor will repair or replace the defective unit at our option. Repair or replacement of the defective unit, at the warrantor’s option, is the sole remedy under this warranty.

Agradecemos sua compra deste Termômetro Sem Contato. Pedimos que leia essa manual de instruções completamente antes de usar seu aparelho a fim de assegurar o uso seguro, resultados exatos e a longa vida do termômetro.

Este produto destina-se a uso doméstico; não se destina a diagnosticar ou tratar qualquer problema de saúde ou doença, e não deve ser usado para substituir a consulta ou conselho de um médico ou de outro profissional da área médica. Os termômetros devem ser usados apenas sob a supervisão de um adulto.

A tecnologia de infravermelho usada neste termômetro toma a temperatura de pessoa e objetos sem qualquer contato físico entre o termômetro e a pessoa ou objeto. O termômetro mede a temperatura corporal a uma distância de aproximadamente 5 a 7 cm da testa, é menos invasivo e menos ameaçador do que outros termômetros, e é também mais higiênico. O termômetro pode ser usado quando o paciente está dormindo. Este termômetro também mede a temperatura de objetos e líquidos, sendo

útil para determinar se o leite ou a água do banho do bebê estão na temperatura certa.

Contato mede essa energia, fazendo 512 leituras em um segundo e convertendo esses dados a um pico único de temperatura, que é exibido no visor. A TEMPERATURA CORPORAL E A FEBRE

A temperatura corporal pode variar entre 36,1°C e 37,2°C e ainda assim ser considerada normal. A temperatura corporal "normal" medicamente aceita é de 37°C. A temperatura corporal é normalmente mais baixa de manhã do que em qualquer outro ponto durante o resto das horas despertas de uma pessoa.

A febre é definida como uma temperatura corporal que é elevada, acima do normal para aquela pessoa. É importante determinar o que é normal para uma pessoa antes de determinar a presença de febre. Acompanhar a temperatura de uma pessoa de forma consistente, no mesmo local do corpo e na mesma hora todos os dias irá ajudar a determinar a temperatura normal da pessoa.

PONTAS PARA A TEMPERATURA

DE CORPO DE MEDIÇÃO

• Espere ao menos um minuto entre leituras consecutivas, a fim de garantir a precisão

• Tentar fazer leituras de temperatura de sites sobre o corpo que não a fronte pode produzir resultados incorretos

• O paciente deve permanecer imóvel enquanto a leitura está sendo tomado

CÓMO MEDIR LA TEMPERATURA CORPO-

RAL

Para medir a temperatura corporal usando seu Termômetro Digital

Infravermelho, siga essas etapas:

1. Pressione o botão POWER para ligar o termômetro. A unidade executará um autoteste e todos os símbolos no visor aparecerão momentaneamente, Fig. 1.

2. Verifique se o termômetro está no modo Pessoa; o símbolo de

Pessoa será exibido no visor, Fig. 2. Para alternar entre modos, pressione e solte o botão do modo de PESSOA/OBJETO até ver o símbolo de medição desejado no visor.

3. Pressione e mantenha o botão MEASURE. O símbolo Pessoa,

Scan e Progresso e “00” deverão ser exibidos, Fig. 3.

4. Mantendo pressionado o botão MEASURE, mire as lentes infravermelhas para a testa do paciente, mantendo o termômetro aproximadamente entre 4 a 6 cm de distância, Fig. 4.

5. Solte o botão MEASURE, NÃO MOVA O TERMÔMETRO; A MEDIDA

AINDA NÃO ESTÁ CONCLUÍDA.

6. O termômetro fará um som de bipe novamente e a leitura da temperatura será exibida, Fig. 5. Se a medida da temperatura estiver abaixo de 38° C, uma face sorridente aparecerá ao lado da leitura. Se a medida for de 38° C ou acima disso, uma face triste será exibida.

7. Depois de um minuto após o uso, o termômetro fará um bipe automaticamente e desligará.

Aguarde pelo menos um minuto entre leituras consecutivas para garantir a exatidão.

MEDIDA DE TEMPERATURA DE

OBJETO/LÍQUIDO

O Termômetro Sem Contato pode medir temperaturas de líquidos e objetos entre 0°C a 105°C. Para medir a temperatura de um objeto ou líquido usando seu Termômetro infravermelho digital siga essas etapas:

1. Pressione o botão POWER para ligar o termômetro. Todos os símbolos aparecerão momentaneamente, Fig. 1.

2. Verifique se o termômetro está no modo OBJETO; o símbolo de

Objeto será exibido no visor, Fig. 2. Para alternar entre modos, pressione e solte o botão do Modo de PESSOA/OBJETO até ver o símbolo de medição desejado no visor.

3. Pressione e mantenha o botão MEASURE. O símbolo Objeto,

Scan e Progresso e “00” deverão ser exibidos, Fig. 3.

4. Mantendo pressionado o botão MEASURE, mire as lentes infravermelhas ao objeto ou superfície do líquido, mantendo o termômetro aproximadamente entre 4 a 6 cm de distância, Fig. 4.

5. Solte o botão MEASURE. NÃO MOVA O TERMÔMETRO; A MEDIDA

AINDA NÃO ESTÁ CONCLUÍDA.

6. O termômetro fará um som de bipe novamente e a leitura da temperatura será exibida, Fig. 5.

7. Depois de um minuto após o uso, o termômetro fará um bipe automaticamente e desligará.

ENTRE ºF / ºC

Seu termômetro pode exibir resultados em graus Fahrenheit (°F) ou graus Celsius (°C).

Para alternar entre Fahrenheit e Celsius, enquanto a unidade estiver ligada, mantenha o botão PESSOA/OBJETO e o botão MEM

(Memória) pressionados até que o ícone °F no visor passe para °C ou vice-versa. No momento em que o modo tiver sido alterado você poderá soltar os botões.

REVISÃO DAS LEITURAS

E ELIMINAÇÃO

Seu Termômetro Sem Contato armazena automaticamente as

últimas 10 leituras efetuadas. Para ver as leituras armazenadas na memória, siga estas etapas:

1. Pressione o botão MEASURE para ligar o termômetro.

2. Pressione o botão MEM (Memória) para rever a medida mais recente, Fig. 1.

3. Pressione o botão MEM (Memória) várias vezes para ver as leituras anteriores (a unidade fará um bipe a cada vez em que você alternar as leituras). O número de índice acima da leitura da temperatura indica o número sequencial da leitura armazenada que você está visualizando no momento.

SUBSTITUIÇÃO DA BATERIA

Quando a carga da bateria estiver baixa, o símbolo de bateria fraca aparecerá no visor.

O termômetro ainda poderá ser usado durante este período, mas as baterias deverão ser substituídas assim que possível.

Se as baterias descarregarem completamente, o símbolo "Lo" será exibido, juntamente com o símbolo de bateria fraca. Neste caso, as baterias precisarão ser trocadas antes de usar o termômetro novamente.

O Termômetro Sem Contato utiliza duas baterias AAA. Podem ser usadas baterias recarregáveis ou não no termômetro. Para substituir as baterias, siga essas etapas:

1. Deslize para retirar a tampa da bateria.

2. Remova cuidadosamente as baterias antigas. Não use uma ferramenta com ponta metálica.

3. Insira as novas baterias, assegurando-se de que os terminais positivo e negativo estejam alinhados corretamente.

4. Recoloque a tampa da bateria.

5. Descarte as baterias usadas de acordo com as políticas locais de meio ambiente.

O uso ou cuidado inapropriados de seu termômetro poderá resultar em ferimento, dano

à unidade ou em leituras inexatas, o que pode levar a um falso diagnóstico de febre. A observância dessas instruções assegurará a exatidão do termômetro e a vida longa.

• Nunca permita que o termômetro seja usado sem a supervisão de um adulto.

• A tecnologia de infravermelho usada neste termômetro é segura e não é prejudicial de forma alguma. Entretanto, recomendamos evitar olhar para as lentes durante o uso.

• Limpe as lentes antes e depois de cada uso.

• Não toque as lentes com os dedos.

• Deixar cair o termômetro ou provocar outro tipo de impacto forte pode danificá-lo.

• Quando não estiver em uso, guarde o termômetro no estojo fornecido.

• Não guarde o termômetro à luz solar direta, exposto a poeira ou a ambientes

úmidos ou a temperaturas extremas.

• Não desmonte o termômetro ou tente repará-lo.

• Se não for possível fazer uma leitura e as etapas de solução de problemas não resolverem o problema, o termômetro deverá ser substituído.

LIMPEZA E ARMAZENAMENTO

As lentes devem ser limpas antes e depois de cada uso, a fim de eliminar a sujeira e as impressões digitais e para garantir a exatidão de suas leituras. O armazenamento adequado evitará a degradação e dano ao aparelho.

LIMPEZA Figs. 1, 2:

• Um cotonete embebido em álcool ou um pano de algodão macio umedecido em álcool isopropílico a

70% devem ser usados para limpar suavemente as lentes. Não use água nem tampouco lave o termômetro.

• O corpo do termômetro pode ser limpo com um pano seco e macio.

• Nunca use uma toalha de papel para limpar a ponta de teste, pois pode arranhar as lentes.

• Não mergulhe o termômetro em líquido nem permita que qualquer líquido entre na caixa.

• Não use outros agentes de limpeza que não seja o

álcool para limpar o termômetro; abrasivos, solventes ou gasolina danificarão a unidade.

ARMAZENAMENTO:

• Armazene a unidade na bolsa de armazenamento fornecida.

• Proteja o termômetro contra chove mecânico ou impacto forte.

• Armazene a unidade em uma área distante da luz solar, sem poeira e umidade.

• Evite a exposição prolongada a temperaturas extremas. O termômetro deve ser armazenado em um ambiente entre -25°C a 55°C, e com umidade relativa de 95% ou inferior.

• Remova a bateria durante uma armazenagem prolongada.
