Magnetic core fixed to a tiny refractory metal rod penetrating the centre-line of the whole fuel stack. Core

Calibration specifications :
Recommended for high-temperature measurements.
LVDT is calibrated separately at the operating temperature (out of pile).
No decalibration with time or neutron fluence but an initial decalibration of 3 % of the LVDT sensitivity has to
be included.

Fuel temperature measurement on fuel rods with long irradiation time (no decalibration).
Note: LVDT measuring system can remain fixed while exchanging or removing the fuel rod
