• The lid has a combined keypad/keyswitch entry using our
new style plastic keyswitch

Why is approval important?
To be approved to a standard by a recognised
certification body gives reassurance to the user that you
have indeed succeeded in complying with a standard.
The introduction of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety)
Order means the onus is now on the person responsible
for a building's fire safety to reduce its risk from fire by
carrying out a risk assessment and acting upon its
findings. If they fail to do so they could face a fine or
litigation. Clearly, an effective fire alarm system is key to
the fire risk management of most buildings and the best
way to prove it is fit for purpose is to show (through
certification) that the equipment used is compliant with
the relevant standard(s).
If you were the person responsible for the fire safety in
your workplace wouldn't you feel safer knowing the
product you've had fitted has been third-party
certificated? Moreover, if you are a wholesaler (or
installer) selling or installing a fire alarm panel wouldn't
you feel safer knowing the same?
The demand for approved product is increasing.
Installation companies that achieve BAFE SP203
accreditation for example are duty-bound to used
compliant product wherever possible. Plus, as stories
circulate of people being fined or in some cases being
sent to prison for not taking fire safety seriously enough,
so does the demand for traceable compliant product.
Approval provides a high degree of confidence in the
performance of a product as it involves regular auditing
to ensure compliance with the prevailing standards
(which are subject to regular revision). This ongoing
auditing process also helps to confirm that the product
on the market is exactly the same as the product which
was originally tested and approved.

Conventional Fire Alarm Detectors

The Firesafe range of detectors boast an array of features, in particular the 360 degree multi-view alarm
indication. This is an important feature for an electrical contractor upon installation as it eliminates the need
to worry about mounting the base in a position suitable enough to have full visibility of the LED when installed.
FDPT Combined Photo Thermal Smoke / Heat Detector
Today’s replacement for the ionisation smoke detector has both optical chamber and thermal elements
built into one unit giving a true multi criteria unit. The detector will only alarm once the process is satisfied
that an incipient fire has been detected, thus reducing the incidence of false alarms.
FDOP Photoelectric Smoke Detector
The smoke detector chamber is highly tolerant to the inevitable long term build-up of dust and other airborne
contaminations; the optical chamber operates on the principle of infra red light refracting smoke particles
entering the chamber making this unit more sensitive to smouldering fires such as fabrics or furnishings.
FDHR60 60˚Rate of Rise Thermal Heat Detector
The thermal element built into this unit responds to either rapid increase in temperatures or an elevated
ambient temperature following a slow build up if heat from smouldering fires.
Typically used where the smoke detector would be inappropriate.

FBF376N 24Vdc Auxillary Relay Units
The relay is intended to switch addtional field devices via the two relay outputs supplied. An LED
is mounted so that it remains visible during the relay operation.
The supply voltage to the relay coil may be continued through the device via the additional terminals
supplied. Each device is reverse polarity protected.
Typical usage examples are;automatic door retainers, smoke vents and fan shutdown, which are
intended to be operated by an automatic fire system.

The unit is used to give a remote indication of the status of a single or groups of fire detectors in
alarm state utilising an LED with a wide area of illumination and high on/off contrast.
The units are compatible with the majority of conventional and addressable systems and can also
be used for security and process control applications.
The standard version is a single gang flush mount unit, with or without 'Fire Detector Operated'
text and also available with a deep back box for surface mounting.

FSMSN 110 - 230Vac 32 Tone Deep Base Sounder
The high output 110-230Vac sounder is a flexible sounder designed for applications where a mains powered sounder
is required. The sounder comes with a suite of 32 tones to cover most applications including fire, security and general
industrial and for use as a wide open area sounder. The tones include a wide range of sound patterns and frequencies
compatible with international requirements. Please note installation is not recommended in chilled areas.
Tones are selected via a DIL switch. By using three wires, a second stage alarm may be switched so that the
continuous tone will override the tone selected.
Supplied with its own mounting base that comes with marker points for drilling industry standard M20 PG gland entries
to maintain the products IP integrity. Cables can be entered from the rear or side for surface and flush wiring options.
This product does not require an earth connection as each device has its own transformer and de-coupling between
mains frequencies.

Electromagnetic Fire Door Holders

FMH/M24 & FMH/M230 Electromagnetic Door Holders
The FMH electromagnetic fire door holders are designed to hold open fire doors
in any areas where easy access is essential, and can be used in conjunction with
any suitable fire alarm systems. When an alarm is triggered, power to the door
holder is cut, allowing the fire door fitted with it’s standard closing mechanism, to
shut automatically. Firesafe door holders are fitted with an integral release button
and supplied complete with an adjustable keeper plate and instructions as
standard.
The magnet is supplied surface mounted as standard. A spring loaded pin ensures
zero residual holding force. It is supplied with pressed steel surface mount box
with 20 mm knockouts.
The FMH is ideal for use in any public access areas including Hospitals, Cinemas,
Airports, Offices, Hotels and Nursing Homes.

The FMD5 is designed to hold open fire doors for ease of access
and release them when an alarm is triggered. They are ideally suited
to applications where maximum protection is needed against
vandalism or accidental damage such as prisons and schools. They
are also suited to applications where the door is not opening near
a wall. They feature a rugged cast aluminium housing, a holding
magnet with integral ejection pin and a manual release switch.
Supplied as 500N holding force as standard and vandal resistant
form. Every door holder is supplied complete with a door mounting
keeper plate.

FSTP2/4/8 2-Wire Fire Control Panels
The Firesafe dualguard+ 2-wire range of fire control panels have been designed in accordance with
European standards BS EN54-2 and BS EN54-4 Fire Detection and Fire Alarm Systems - Control
and Indicating Equipment.
The panels have been designed to work with the Firesafe dualguard+ 2-wire range of products
and detectors all wired to the same pair of cables, offering a cost effective solution to sounder
installation. Wiring sounders to the detection circuits eliminates the need to install sounder circuit
cables and also offers the ability to provide zones or two stage sounder operation.
All control panels have an integral, mains powered battery charger and power supply designed in
accordance with the requirements of BS EN54-4.

2-Wire Fire Alarm
FSTO 2-Wire Optical Detector
The Firesafe dualguard+ 2-wire optical detector is a photoelectric smoke sensor, which it incorporates a unique
high performance technoloy chamber, removing the need to use lonisation smoke sensors in the majority of
applications. A third terminal provides remote indicator output.
This also allows the sensor threshold level to be increased, thereby improving the signal to noise ratio and reducing
susceptibility to false alarms.
It is easily removed or replaced for cleaning and utilises a unique baffle design which allows smoke to enter the
chamber whilst keeping out ambient light.
It is supported by the Firesafe dualguard+ 2-wire range of products, thermal detectors and 2, 4 or 8 zone panels
for different applications, supported on the majority of conventional systems.

The Firesafe dualguard+ 2-wire thermal detector is a rate of rise heat detector with a 60ºC fixed temperature element
using a thermistor and linearising circuit to provide an accurate linear response heat detector. A third terminal
provides remote indicator output.
It is ideal for use where medium ambient temperatures exist, such as drying rooms or where smoke detectors are
unsuitable because of the presence of steam or cooking fumes such as in a kitchen.

EV Series Emergency Voice
EVCS Controllers
EVCS comprises a range of wll-mounting controllers which can handle 4 or 8 lines (dependent on the model purchased). Typically located in a
building’s control room or a fire services access point, each controller allows management and/or the emergency services to cmmunicate via
telephone-style handsets with the system’s ‘outstations’. For a larger system, an 8 line expansion unit allows systems of up to 12 or 16 lines to be

Operation
• Standard calls: when triggered by a calling device, the
controller’s internal buzzer sounds continuously and the
relevant zone indicator(s) illuminate steady.
• Pressing the controller’s Reset Button (A), if enabled,
cancels all standard calls.
• Pressing the controller’s Mute Button (B), if enabled,
silences the controller’s internal buzzer. However, if a
new call (standard or emergency) is triggered anywhere
on the system, the buzzer will resound.
• Alternatively, instead of muting calls, Button (B) can be
configured as a CALL ACCEPT button.
• Pressing Call Accept sends a slow pulsing
acknowledgement signal to overdoor lights and reset
points c/w sounders provided they are wired as shown
on the example wiring diagram below. Should a new
call (standard or emergency) be triggered anywhere on
the system, any zones in the acknowledgement
state will revert to a standard call.
• Emergency calls: when triggered by a calling device,
the controller’s internal buzzer pulses on and off and
the relevant zone indicator(s) flash. This level of call
takes priority over standard calls and cannot be muted,
accepted or reset at the controller. An emergency call
can only be reset at the device from which it was
triggered or via a reset point, wired on the same zone.
