How to connect Panasonic AW Series PTZ cameras to Wowza Streaming Engine Orig in ally Pu b lish ed on [article("d ate_p u b lish ed ")] | Up d ated on 03/06 /2017 11:09 am PST Panasonic AW series HD/UHD PTZ cameras and camera systems have built-in network connectivity f or capturing and publishing live video over the Internet to Wowza Streaming Engine™ media server sof tware. Wowza Streaming Engine creates Panasonic source settings in a stream f ile, which provides a method to re-stream the output f rom the Panasonic PTZ camera to players. This article describes how to create connection settings to automatically conf igure your Panasonic PTZ camera. Notes: Integrated publishing is included in Wowza Streaming Engine 4.5.0 and later for the following Panasonic AW series PTZ cameras: AW-HE40 AW-UE70 AW-HE130 Panasonic PTZ camera integration with Wowza Streaming Engine only supports interleaved RTSP streaming (UDP isn't supported). Panasonic is a Works with Wowza™ partner. Contents Connecting Panasonic PTZ cameras Set up the Panasonic PTZ live source Set up the Panasonic PTZ camera Verif ying the connection Playing the stream Example players Accessing Pan/Tilt/Zoom (PTZ) controls Changing Pan/Tilt/Zoom settings Changing the reconnect wait time Connecting Panasonic PTZ cameras Use the procedures in this section to set up the Panasonic source f or a live application in Wowza Streaming Engine, and to set up your Panasonic PTZ camera to distribute video to the live application. Note: You can set up a Panasonic source for the live application in Streaming Engine Manager first or you can set up the Panasonic PTZ camera to distribute video to the live application first. If you want the live stream to be available to users from the beginning, or if you want to record the live stream from the beginning using the Incoming Streams feature in Streaming Engine Manager, set up the Panasonic PTZ camera in Wowza Streaming Engine Manager first. The live application in the Streaming Engine will periodically try to connect to the camera until it comes online. Set up the Panasonic PTZ live source 1. In the Wowza Streaming Engine Manager Welcome page, click Applications at the top of the page. 2. In the contents panel, under the live application, click Sources (Live). 3. In the Sources (Live) page, click Panasonic PT Z - AW Series. 4. Enter a name f or the stream in Stream Name. Notes: The name value can't contain less-than (<), greater-than (>), colon (:), quotation (' and "), forward slash (/), backslash (), pipe (|), question mark (?), asterisk (*), double-dot (..), and tilde (~) characters. The stream name is used to create a stream file that replaces (aliases) the Panasonic PTZ camera's complex stream URI so that players can use the stream file name in playback URLs in place of the camera's complex stream name. Stream files are stored in an application's streaming file directory and have a .stream file name extension. You must enter a stream name value that creates a unique stream file name. 5. Enter the camera's IP address in Camera IP Address. If your camera requires RTSP streaming authentication, add credentials in the f ollowing f ormat: [rtsp-username]:[rtsp-password]@[camera-ipaddress]:[custom-rtsp-port]. Notes: The camera's IP address is the network address or properly mapped domain that you established using the Panasonic Easy IP Setup Software and what you use to access the web-based camera controls and video feed. If you are missing this software, you can download it from the Panasonic website. Adding an optional [custom-rtsp-port] to the camera's IP address redirects traffic through that port for the camera to receive. Leave this value off of the camera IP address to use the default (port 554). For more information about changing the camera's RTSP port, see Set up the Panasonic PTZ camera. 6. If your Panasonic camera requires PTZ authentication, enter your Camera User Name and Camera Password. These are the Administrator or User authentication credentials that you set up with the Easy IP Setup Sof tware and they are used to access the camera's PTZ controls f rom this application's Incoming Streams page. You can also edit these credentials in the application's Stream Files page af ter a connection is created. For more inf ormation, see Accessing Pan/Tilt/Zoom (PTZ) controls. 7. Click Create Connection to connect to the stream. If the camera is of f line, the stream f ile will try to connect to it every 3 seconds until it can establish a connection. For more inf ormation about how to change the connection retry interval, see Changing the reconnect wait time. 8. Make sure the Panasonic camera is in Power ON mode and verif y that the stream is published. Set up the Panasonic PTZ camera Make sure you have the latest f irmware f or your camera. If you have multiple camera instances on your network or you are streaming video via public internet, you may want to change the host RTSP port number (554 by def ault). You also may want to change the def ault port f or IP control (TCP port 80 by def ault) f or certain network conf igurations or if you are controlling via public internet or WAN. For inf ormation on how to change ports, see your Panasonic camera's Operating Instructions and protocol documents Af ter initial settings are established f or your Panasonic PTZ camera, navigate to your camera's IP address in a web browser to remotely view and customize the streams f rom all connected cameras. The camera control screen includes a live screen preview, PTZ controls, JPEG and H.264 video settings, and user authentication. Verifying the connection To verif y that the stream is published, click Incoming Streams f or the live application in Wowza Streaming Engine Manager, and then click the stream name. The inf ormation page f or the stream displays the uptime, network throughput, and other inf ormation about the published stream. Playing the stream To play the stream over various streaming f ormats, do the f ollowing: 1. Click Stream Files f or the live application in Wowza Streaming Engine Manager, and then click the name of the stream f ile in the list that's restreaming your Panasonic PTZ camera output. 2. For example, to use the Adobe HDS protocol to play myStream.stream, click the Adobe HDS tab, and then click Start. The test players are also online on our Wowza Test Players webpage. To use the example players to play the broadcast from your Panasonic PTZ camera, be sure to substitute the name of the stream file that's re-streaming your Panasonic PTZ camera output in place of myStream in the playback URLs. Accessing Pan/Tilt/Zoom (PTZ) controls In Wowza Streaming Engine 4.2 (and later), you can control your camera's PTZ f eatures f rom within Wowza Streaming Engine Manager by launching the Pan/T ilt/Zoom Controller f rom the Incoming Streams page. To access PTZ controls in your camera: 1. In Wowza Streaming Engine Manager, create a connection f rom your live application to your camera and then verif y that you are connected to the camera's stream. 2.
